Ubuntu+cinnamon (or just mint) is pretty good for someone who is used to the windows desktop.
But its all the same shit really, after you spend a few weeks on it you realize every part of the user interface can be changed, so you will just customize it to work as you want it to.

linux is a free option for users with outdated/ancient windows operating systems that can't be updated anymore. it's usable if you don't mind the occasional desktop freeze/system lockup that will happen from time to time if the system is under too much load.
