I was gonna dump some bands/albums in the metal thread that just died, but didn't make it in time. Here it is though. If someone are still interested.
Also. General music/metal thread
Windir: Folk/black metal (Valfar didn't want it to be known as black metal, but it's easier to explain that way. He wanted it to be known as sognametal). A bit on the technical side with a sound that can only be described as a ride
Urgehal: Black metal. Very aggressive, kind of forms a wall of sound.
Durbatuluk: Depressive suicidal black metal. As c r i n g e as that sounds, this guy creates a great atmosphere.
Blodstrupmoen: Ambient/progressive black metal. A dampened sound, as if everything is underwater with chants that can barely make their way through
sure thing. Just had to help my younger brother with some stuff
Here goes.
Mafgorgol: More rather simple stuff. Met the guy through another band (Tenebris Army if you're interested, but it's not black metal). Apparently he made most of this album when he was pretty young, 15-ish and up if I remember correctly.
Just something to flex when you want to show off some obscure shit
Don't you mean Ratlord? Their self-titled was actually my first black metal album. I got it because my dad got it from a friend, but didn't listen to it. Didn't get into black metal until a bit later, but it was still my first
For the pagans out there, here's Folket bortafor nordavinden: Pagan music. Almost hypnotic with mainly drums and vocals. Getting lulled into a transe by Ur Is Ka Ha So as I'm writing this.
A bit salty these days because I was gonna attend Midgardsblot (Norwegian black metal/pagan festival) as a volunteer worker, meaning I'd stay in the bar and poor a few (or more) beers for people for a few hours and enjoy the rest of the festival for free. Sadly I won't be able to attend because some people owe me money, and can't pay up yet. Can't even afford the travel as it is right now
Did you hear about the whole situation regarding Batushka's new album? Crazy stuff
Anthony Bennett
Blodstrupmoen. We have a lot of common friends, but i've never met the guys nor even checked out their music.
Liam Richardson
No shit? I don't remember exactly how I stumbled upon them, but I've never met any of them or heard people talk about them before. Just something I shared with my brother and a few friends of his. Hardly have any metalhead friends myself, sadly
Charles Perry
Yeah no a girl i used to fuck then went on to fuck one of them or whatever. I don't know.
Figured I could post some youtube-links for easy access for those who want to listen there.
None: Ambient. I've mainly listened to Damp Chill Of Life, but most of their stuff is pretty calm, but has a pretty cold atmosphere. youtube.com/watch?v=_A4yhLYseDA
Yikes. Not the cool hanging out with the band story I was expecting.
Istårn: Black metal. Not gonna describe anything more in-depth (if you can even call it that). They have some sharp lofi, some progressive and some just grand black metal youtube.com/watch?v=1RVoOc0TrDg
Actually found them by talking to one of them on omegle back when that was a thing. I think it was shortly after this EP came out. Don't remember which one of them I spoke to though, it was a few years ago
Getting a bit sleepy, so I'm gonna head off soon. On a whole different note, I just listened to Dee Snider's new stuff the other day, after my dad got a crush on him again after seeing him at Norway Rock. His new stuff actually kicks ass.
Some day soon, I hope to be able to advertise my brother's band, or even my own, if I manage to record enough stuff and put it all together. In the meantime I'll mention another band from around here, Ruun. Gonna see them fairly soon, as so far you kinda have to catch them performing live. They don't have anything out (as far as I know) except two youtube-vids. Both are taken from metal to the masses this year. I think they are working on their debut album as we speak. They play blackened prog, if that's a thing. If you're interested, give this shit quality vid a listen: youtube.com/watch?v=sr25Y6I-zd8
Andrew Flores
sure sounds like blackened prog
Christopher Morris
Back patch? Show us your vest! I'm gonna take a pic of mine too.
Lucas Nguyen
Not sure whether you're saying we recruited another member to our overgrown spiked emo death club or if you don't like it and thought I baited someone into admitting to liking "shit". With metalheads you never know when you find an actual elitist.
Either way. I can't help but enjoy this album a little more than I should when taking nightwalks or just being outside in winter. Fuck, I'm becomming a clique
Austin Gray
I highly doubt you listened to it. I’m not even halfway through it
New way of doxing people, huh? Sorry for taking so long.
Anyways, here it is. Not sure which direction to take it, so I think I'm just gonna plaster it with pretty much everything and get a jacket with fewer patches on it later. The sorest thumb has to be ACDC though. They're there because they were my gateway drug back when I was a kid
Gonna hit the hay though. Gonna check the archives for the battlevest and other possible replies. Have a great rest of your day everyone.
For one last band, I'll mention Djevel: Aggressive black metal. In the spirit of night-night I will share a song from their album Vettehymner, which an acoustic album which has both covers of their other songs and some new acoustic songs youtube.com/watch?v=_ecmYiFNlIU
Fuck it, doubt I'll fall asleep soon anyways. Thanks. I'm not a fan of tonnes of studs, but I wanted some just to break up the cheap look of the vest a bit more
Jaxson Rogers
I'm actually thinking about adding few studs onto my vest. Not onto shoulders for sure, but I'm not sure about the final place either. I've sewed on new patches recently, so I need to take a new pic.
Noah Bailey
Cool. For my vest and the look I want, I found that less is more, but I've seen ones that could function as chainmail armour too. I just don't want that on mine. Please do send a pic if you take one
Kevin Nguyen
Yeah, I'm not a fan of jackets fully covered in studs. It msut be heavy as heck, and It's not safe for other people in the pit.
gojira AND cannibal corpse my nigga also props to have the balls to display korn
Jason Young
Looking good.
About the studs and the pit btw. I agree. I've only gotten to wear this vest to one show and one festival. The show was a metalcore show (Eyes WIde Open), but had free entrance and was within walking distance so what the heck. Had a good time. And at the festival I mostly went to the black metal shows or the like, which doesn't seem to have that many moshpits. The Dogs (rock/rockabilly/punk) however, had a pretty good one, that was started by the vocalist himself when he wasn't happy with the one he saw. I was a bit worried about it, but it seemed to be ok. I might remove the longer studs and just keep the small round ones because of pits though
Andrew Bailey
Those guys with Slipknot got me into metal in the first place, so even If I don't really listen to them as much as I used too, I still wanted to have them on my vest. Btw, I recently checked the older Gojira stuff, back when they were called Godzilla, and its TITS!
Josiah Hughes
I also like how Windir makes his way onto there. Vreid also played at this festival and played Svartasmeden og Lundamyrstrollet. It was truly amazing
Lucas Perez
That's cool. I haven't really been in any cool pits. Last time I was at a show in a small club there was sort of a small pit, tho it was just few of us jumping near the scene. I got pushed a lot, cause im skinny (around 60 kg), but was nice. Almost slipped on beer and hit my head, but one dude caught me in time! It was a good show. I might see Exdous, Testament and Death Angel in February. I hope I get to crowd surf!
Leo Baker
After hearing 1184 for the first time I knew i had to get a Windir patch. Damn, I would love to see Vreid live. Watching the last Windir show on Yt, the one where Valfar's brother sang always made me emotional. Just the feeling I missed on something really great.
Pretty sure you're gonna see some action then. Me neither, and I know the struggle, pushing 70 kg myself.
I feel the exact same about Windir. An old guy, 60 or something, came up to me after Vreid and asked me where I heard about Windir, considering my age (20). I said that I found him when I was about 13 and started getting into black metal and he shaped my entire perception of the genre.
The Valfar ein Windir/Sognametal DVD was straight up black metal porn. I wish I could've witnessed something like it live. Someone performing their deceased brother's songs like that, fuck me
Levi Lopez
I know we're talking about black metal, but mentioning The Dogs got me thinking about the madman that is Kristopher Schau. If anyone's into depressive music in general and want some rock, I've got these two by The Cumshots (with the same vocalist as The Dogs) youtube.com/watch?v=O8Qugtp90NU youtube.com/watch?v=kjH3W5r_dDw
Despite the horrible beard and the hooligan look, he has to be one of the most charismatic people I've ever seen/heard
