Abuse: Shoving mentos up a fluffies shithole, then giving them a coke-zero enema so they explode.
Sadbox: A herd of fluffies living in a field quite successfully, then farming season starts and a combine kills all the babbehs while they're out playing and the mummah's all break down leading to the leader of the herd having to force enfies on them to make more babies so the herd doesn't die out
Sadbox: frame 1-2: A mare with three foals living under a bunch of tree roots covered with bushes so it's protected and safe
Frames 3-4: fall comes and the foals are grown, and one has found a special friend. The original mare is pregnant again.
Frames 5-6: Really fucking hugboxxy bullshit with the new babbehs
Frames 7-8: The first winter storm hits and freezes half the chirpy babbehs to death, and hunger forces the original mare and the pregnant first generation foal to eat the babbehs for milk.
Frames 9-10: The original mare dies during a particularly bad storm by sacrificing herself: She blocks the door/passage way with her body so the rest of the fluffs don't freeze to death or get snowed in
Frames 11-12: Days pass and the storm is still raging, the other fluffies are forced to eat their mom/oma to survive
Frames 13-14: The storm finally blows past and they're able to get out of their living area and get rid of the corpse leading to many "heart hurties" and "huu-huus"
Frames 15-16: It's the next spring and a smarty shows up, and curb stomps the new leader of the herd, and makes all the chirpy babbehs into enfie babbehs before the rest of the herd finally finds their balls and curb stomps the shit out of the smarty
Frames 17-18: Someone starts their nest on fire to get rid of the fluff balls, killing all but one of the mares and a few of her foals. She sets out on her own to find a new nest, finding one under a tree. This mare and the foals are the same colour as the mare and foals in frame 1.

The man agrees to adopt the fluffy, fills the paperwork, and walks out with the ugly in his hands moved to tears from happiness. Outside the shelter, the fluffies babbling is cut off mid-sentence as the man snaps its neck, before gently laying the corpse in a trashcan. "Rest in peace little one, your troubles are now over." he says before walking away.
I haven't drawn it yet because I have so many other irons in the fire, including a 4000 word story I'm finishing up tomorrow.

I'd let it in, but at a cost. She has to choose one foal that will lose its eyes.
Then I'd enact strict rules for treating my home with respect (they obviously wouldn't be able to abide by them). Punishment would usually be a beating or no dinner.
Eventually I'd try to take some of their legs. Once they get loud and annoying about it, I'll put them in the back yard so they get dirty and decrepit.

that's still within the realm of possibilities. Also she is still on top of a piece of furniture from wich she or her babies can fall off. From what I've seen poopy foals (green and brown) make up about 20% of all litters. Even so the natural selection for good colors seems like a weak correlation. Breeders seem to have a difficult time getting good colors.

I'd say it likely has to do with the significant amount of resources needed to genetically alter something and get a consistent result.
The same genes used for one organism may not work for another. They'd look for other genes to pair with it or move on to something else.
We're barely scratching the surface with plants right now much less a talking animal-thing. Genetic Engineering is going to be huge in the next several decades. There will be a shit ton of regulation and moral questions to be had.
