everyone's always talking about how inconsistent & expensive lethal injections are as an argument to do away with the death penalty. ethical arguments aside, wouldn't it be more pragmatic to just return to firing squads?

Just push the fuckers off a high cliff. Cheap and effective
Please consider accumulative transportation costs, friend.
That's what the Romans did, look up the Tarpeian Rock
You do not understand the reasons that capital punishment is expensive. (It's not the cost of the drugs)
if you're talking about the costs incurred during the trial, yes, a death penalty trial costs the state & most people involved more. that, combined with housing the convicted person until the execution, & with the additional cost of the execution itself racks up quite the bill. still don't see it as a reason not to return to firing squads to curtail costs even slightly.
Firing squads end up being much more expensive due to the costs of mental care for the squads. Shooting people tends to fuck with one's head.
That's why firing squads are squads. Only one has live rounds and the guns are randomly given. Only one person actually shoots the guy.
Most people wouldnt die from one bullet.
I've always thought that's more cruel to the squad. not knowing whether you did it or not, maybe assuming that you had, but hadn't. I don't know, seems ripe for some mental illness.
