I think with fluffy litters it seems like there are a bunch of normal colors, a couple of brown and green ones, then one really good color one.

For humans the brown gene is dominant, but that may not be true for other animals depending on the gene structure. Fluffies were primarily created for ornamental purposes. You want good colors to be rarer to increase the percieved value for customers. Mother and father colors play a role in the lore as well
