I joined Facebook in 2007 back when it was less popular than myspace and equally as popular as xenga or whatever it was called. Myspace was much more popular until about 2010 when Facebook started pumping a bunch of work into making it the cancer that it is today.

My point is that in 2007, when I too was lurking Yea Forums, nobody was "exposing facebook girls", by what I can tell that's something that became mainstream within the last 5 years.

They were like investigative adventures back then. You also didn't have to deal with every other 12yo posting the same stale memes in every thread. Combo posters were plenty, but at least theyd come up with different combos.

Now its this edgy quasi-hip 'counter culture' hangout for people to anonymously and aggressively preach about insecurity and hate. Whens the last time you saw a thread like the one with the guy that tied balloons to a scorpion and let it out into the world? Originality has been muscled out because Yea Forums is mainstream; too many edgy normies for the good stuff to take off anymore.
