Why write a haiku?
It's such boring poetry.
This new thread is gay.

How many syllables is nigger?
I really hope it is just one
Or else my poem sucks

why post meanie things
dont be a meanie weenie
be a chill will

At work I am now
Phone in hand glowing brightly
Get paid taking shits

eat some more fiber
take longer poops while working
more poop more money

You're illiterate
First and second lines are wrong
Eat shit and die, fag

Enter the bathroom
Masturbate furiously
"Sorry it took long"

its took so long
cause my schlong is very big
your mom cant handle

metamucil is
key to big shit key to life
take it twice daily

mornings are hard
i suck at poetry
coffee

my saber is red
yoda is green
everything's proceeding as i have foreseen

...

I'm not writing something edgy
I'm just bumping up the thread
Have a wholesome day anons

This thread is stupid
Why would I write a poem here
Better stuff to do

Not a haiku

季語の無き
俳句ならぬ詩
此れなるや

I have a business
Installing styrofoam nuns
Fuck a fruit basket

I once killed a man
I will tell you the story
Oops not enough time

lolis are the best
especially the toddlers
such tiny perfection

That's not a haiku
either. You have to follow
the rules too, faggot.

Haikus aren't poems.
They're just counting. Five
seven five and done.

But... whats a syllabi

i should be sleeping.
instead im doing this shit
i wish i was dead

You mother fucker
how are you fucking alive
you mother fucker

The problem with English "haiku" is that each syllable in English can encode significantly more semantic content than can a Japanese mora.

For this reason, constructing a five-seven-five-syllable poem is stupidly easy, whereas to do the same with Japanese mora requires very careful thought, not to mention the inclusion of a recognised seasonal word.

Here's one:

鞦韆に
夜も蒼き空
ありにけり

Buranko ni
Yo mo aoki sora
ari ni keri

"At the swing
even at night, a blue sky
there truly was"

The word for "swing" -- a one-syallable word in English -- requires four mora in Jap: ぶらんこ (鞦韆). Simply put: there is no challenge to write haiku in English; it's just too easy and does not translate.
