I love how I, as a born North American (a statement I am not proud to make) of German and Swedish decent defend the German soldiers more than their own grandchildren. Of course, I too have family still living in Deutschland to this day. And they were certainly around during the first and second world wars. It is very likely that some of my own fathers were Nazis. My mother's family (who still currently live in Deutschland now) had only some of them move to North America somewhere in the 1920's (which was fresh after the first world war when Deutschland suffered a terrible economic collapse). I assume that part of my German family that moved to America (the only reason I was even fucking born here) is because they may have figured they'd have a fighting chance at a better life if they left their impoverished homeland. My father's family also moved here around the same time, but perhaps a LITTLE earlier. So my family on both mother and father's sides haven't even lived in America 100 years.
