Grossest shit you’ve seen? Or just a fucked up story.

There's plenty, recently a guy in one of our mental health units decided to cut his wrists wide open and paint happy little trees everywhere, the only thing that sucks is that I was required to prevent him from harming himself and spraying him did not accomplish that. I ended up dog piling on top of him with other officers to restrain him and his blood got all over me, was interesting seeing faces in the gas station I went to after work though

What movie or show best reflects your experience

I got trips, I deserve a couple more. You ever see inmates doing any really inexplicable shit? Like a ritual? Just some real WTF moments.

I've yet to ever watch anything that has come even close. Films are meant to make it seem more dramatic than it is. 90% of the time on the clock we basically act like "super troopers" because we like to fuck with eachother and inmates to pass the time, nothing inhumane obviously. then the other 10% is the reason we get paid the big bucks, when shit seriously goes south. Can't really make a similarity between an intense scene I've watched versus and intense scene I was participating in

Gay as fuck. Fuck you pig.

Aren't you supposed to fear the prisoners?

Any MS13 animals in your prison? Stories?

Mental health units are goldmines for these types of experiences, There was an inmate who would jerk off into his hat and shave off all of his bodily hair into it and leave it on his rack. Another inmate would always steal and we recently discovered he was rubbing it on his skin like lotion. It's currently under invest since it's considered PREA related

My prison has less than a 1% Hispanic population, I've yet to see an actual MS13 member. Lots of AB's, bloods, crips and small town white boy gangs. HF's are gaining momentum out here and they are extremely volatile since the requirement to join is to assault a staff member.

Mutual respect does just fine

ABs? HFs?
assaulting staff sounds risky, must be interesting

Aryan Brotherhood and Heartless Felons. Most heartless felons come out of juvenile facilities since your ability to defend yourself is limited. Luckily the key word here is "Assault" and not murder. In other states in order to become an AB you have to kill someone to get in. I actually don't work much with the security threat groups, I've recently gotten accepted to be trained in crisis response and hopefully soon after that hostage negotations

You ever walk in on a prisoner diddling another prisoner?

>Salary
>Job Satisfaction
>Dumbest thing you've ever seen a prisoner do
>Guards or Prisoners that you hate/are good friends with
>Worst thing that happened while you were on duty
>What equipment are you issued and are you allowed to bring your own
I'll give more as I think of them

Death penalty. Pro or Contra?

just under 20/hour, but we cap out at around 24 which is extremely high paying for the location. I am satisfied to the extent of making a career out of it, it is very thankless but very rewarding. The dumbest thing I'll ever see an inmate do is lie to an officer about something that they had already witnessed, it literally just makes the punishment even worse. Worst thing I've seen, well we have this inmate we nickname "Zipper" because you'll be sitting at your desk enjoying a cheeseburger and he'll just walk up holding his intestines out from a massive gash on his stomach which is something he does regularly hence the nickname. We get keys, cuffs a radio and pepper spray. If we are on "armed" posts or are escorting we do get guns.

Funny you ask, I work at a facility that houses death row. I am pro-death penalty but and against how they do it. they get 3 appeals which average 15 years a piece, they usually die of natural causes before their sentence is carried out. It's not practical or economic and barely any more humane than a firing squad which would arguably be more efficient.

Sounds like you want to make trouble for yourself here. hope the pay is worth it.

Any truth to prison gangs having judges on their payroll?

fairly common and most usually its consensual, although I recall my second week on the job I watched a rather petite and short inmate get escorted into the bathroom by an inmate that was built like a fucking brick house. obviously I investigated and caught them having consensual sex, the surprising part was that the big guy was pinned up and receiving from the petite inmate.

You don't get vests? Sounds kinda risky and crappy.

Do you have any friends at work, whether they're guards or inmates, and do you have anyone that ruins your day when you see them at work?

Have you ever been assaulted on duty, and if so how'd it go down?

Are you allowed to drink on the job, do you do it anyway/know someone who does?

What's your ideal of the "perfect prison?"

You'd honestly be surprised, there is a fair amount of normally violent men in prison that you can still find a mutual respect with to the extent they let you do your job. I like to explain to them that we are also there for their protection in case of the worst. Also if there are any judges on their payroll then that is a conspiracy beyond my paygrade to be blunt

vest or not if they wanted me dead then I'd be dead. I have plenty of friends as far as guards go and we are not really supposed to make friends with the inmates. However we are encouraged to be amicable and earn rapport with them. There are definitely guards that I've come to dislike but I would risk my life for them regardless and there are inmates that I hate, but I wouldn't do more to them than my job allows, I am just quicker to write them tickets honestly. I have never been the target of an assault but I have been in the crossfire of one, they are usually dealt with very quickly and professionally. As for the Inmate I subdued during that crossfire, he definitely would have been able to kick my ass if it was fair as I snatched him from behind and took his legs from him rendering him harmless for the most part. Can't drink on the job, would never drink on the job and I have yet to see anyone drink on that job, most of us understand we have to be alert if we all want to go home at night. As for a "perfect prison", that would never exist, there are definitely ways to run at max efficiency but it is a system that grows and changes as incidents occur. "A rule is created because some idiot fucked it up for everyone else"

I dunno man, vests save lives, and if I was fighting a mad man with a shank I'd rather have my vitals covered.

Personally, I think prisons should effectively serve as work camps wherein you perform manual labor to pay off the victim of your crime, as it would serve as both a punitive measure and a way to help the victim. SSome money goes back into the prison to cover operating costs, and costs kept to a minimum. No cable TV (or TV in general) for the prisoners, no psych doctors, and no basketball courts. You get off when you've done the work to pay off your sentence. You think that'd work or does it sound crazy?

Also:
Are you married? If so, how does your wife feel about your job?
How does your family feel about it?
Are you ever concerned that you will die or be forced to kill while on duty?
Have you taken any forms of martial arts or self defence training outside of your job to help with work?
How often do "incidents" occur, and do they liven things up or make them worse?

Do you get a boner when you see inmates taking a shit?

It's going to sound silly but during hot weather, since there is no A/C in the prison we all cook alive and I don't think I'd wear a vest even if they gave me one. We are allowed to wear one if we really wished to although.

There are programs here that are similar in that inmates can work for maybe 40cents or so an hour and the profit of the actual company goes mostly to the state but not to the victim. I don't think something like that would work for the fact that there are people out there with enough money to just keep paying off restitution for their crimes if that was the requirement for a sentence. Not to mention that there are things these men do to people that any amount of money wouldn't fix.

Not married and my family is definitely worried about my safety. As far as being killed, well, if I were to ever die then my family would be taken care of and that's OK by me. While I would never consider myself worth being the judge of someones life, if it were for my job then it is ultimately meant for the safety of civilians so I would probably take someones life if deemed necessary, yes. I take jiu jitsu as it is the basis for most of our training anyways. Incidents occur maybe once every two weeks if I had to give an average time frame and honestly, our job is very boring most of the time, while incidents are the very thing we try to prevent, they are the only reason we really feel like officers at times.

>Keep paying restitution
The sentence would be fixed, and they have to work it off anyway Also, rape, murder, and pedophilia just get you hanged.

What's it like on calm days? Do you sit in front of monitors all day and roam the halls or what?

Why are you taking hostage rescue and crisis courses?

Are there any good ways to blow off steam around the prison for the guards? (punching bags, TVs, etc...)

Is there anything your prison does that you disapprove of, or anything it does exceptionally well?

Do you have another job that you are working toward?

Why did you become a corrections officer?

Did you ever want to join the police, military, or SWAT?

Were you bullied in school? Your colleagues? Do you feel good about yourself or powerful when you fuck with inmates for no reason but personal satisfaction?

Honestly anything massively different from what I already do I have no idea, but I am sure it is done how it is for a reason and it will inevitably be changed for another reason. Calm days are mostly just sitting in front of a monitor and staying amicable with other officers or inmates, "rounds" are required in staggered intervals at a maximum of 30 minutes. I'm taking crisis and hostage negotiation courses because I feel it is where I would excel and best become an asset. There is really no way to blow steam off at work, some just eat out of boredom although. I don't like how catering my superiors are to inmates, but you could argue that the intended method of transforming inmates into submissive individuals is to grant them with many privileges I.E. commissary to keep them fat on their own dime, TV to keep them occupied and various other subliminal methods to keep them dumbed down and effectively more harmless. I have had thoughts about maybe becoming a game warden but I am not positive yet. I honestly just kind of fell into this position and haven't really seen a good reason to leave yet. I always admired the thought of being in the military, but I am not a huge fan of moving from where I am.

lots of assumptions there, biased much?
I don't bully or pick on inmates, when I say I "fuck" with them its minor/harmless shit that they laugh about too.

>Defensive response
>Not answering the question

Okay sorry officer I get it please don't throw me down the stairs I'll behave now

>done how it's done for a reason
Prison's an industry, and a profitable one at that. That's why reincarceration rates are so high.

While I'm sure you're probably right about it being profitable, a civilian still has to commit a felony to become an inmate.

And that felony can be as simple as carrying pot.

How's the weather?

Why are u such a cunt?
How many times u fucked up a tamp?
