The /pol/ answer is because if the earth was flat even though everyone thought it was round for hundreds of years, what other things could we be wrong about? And that sows the seeds of fear and unknowing into people, which people don't want
The sensible answer is because there's so much evidence on why the Earth is round, how it was formed, how things stay still on a round object, why we can't see the bend and other reasons. All the questions that flat-earthers raise can be answered by a google search, but people are unwilling to put in the work and effort and would rather place the burden of proof on someone else.
