English language sometimes makes no sense and there's short to no effort to make it better. Take the words "boyfriend" and "girlfriend". Everyone has boy friends and girl friends but they're not related to an intimacy level, there should be invented another name to designate them. I think "bae" is not good, but it's a start nonetheless.
