Also there were some old pen and teller acts where they would take a volunteer from the audience (sadly always a dude) and put them in an escape or something incredibly dangerous. It's kind of niche but I love when there's audience reactions in videos for these acts, and there's always a couple girls who you can tell believe the assistant is really being cut up or impaled, possibly even imaging what its like to be inside the trick.
That's the point. Something about the idea of a perfectly fine girl just casually volunteering to die for something fun and interesting.
