What does /b do for a hobby?

What does /b do for a hobby?

I need one. Want to blow glass but it takes a lot to get started the way that I'd like.

Tried a cheap leatherworking kit and considering getting more tools to make cool shit. Anyone know a leather worker? Is it cool?

STINKY POOPOO HONK HONK

Ahh yes. I forgot it was summer.

How old are you user?

I like to fish and jerk off, not at the same time

Programming. Or video games.

Built myself this undersized mace with some junk laying around the shop. Do other wood and metal work too. Hobbies are good at help keep depression in check.

Attached: 1e28adb5-bef0-4300-a8d5-0cfba1273093.jpg (720x540, 70K)

Well I'd hope not. Lol. What kind of fishing?

It's too fuckin hot to enjoy anything outside the next few months. Yes I am a pussy. No, I don't care. Airconditioing has ruined me. Idgaf

Tried 2 years to play wow again. 3rd world internet is better than the sticks

That's pretty badass user! Yeah, kinda why I'm looking for a hobby. It's been a really hard 3 years and I'm finally able to got 30 seconds without planning my own funeral

I have too many
baking sourdough bread
cooking in general
home brewing
blacksmithing/knife making
leatherworking (mainly knife sheaths)
woodworking
soapmaking
gardening

I tried to get into glassblowing in college but it is a gigantic investment in time/money. My mom made lampwork beads for many years until pandora blew away that market

I'd love to get a project car but I know that I'd never get it done and it would take up room that I don't have since my garage is my workshop for my other hobbies

of all that I've tried, I think blacksmithing can be the most rewarding for the money it takes to get started (can be pretty much free depending on your situation)

pick up drawing, even if its super simple easy sketching stuff

teaches you a lot about patience and keeping with your hobby, practice till you get there type thing

Attached: 5NKS5BYIY12SI_whats-the-name.jpg (638x801, 75K)

I live by one of the Great Lakes so I just pull up to a dock there and fish, too poor to go boat fishing. Mostly catch bass

Fuck as many traps as you can user

Attached: 002F4488-179D-40E0-9750-7C7054E1DE63.jpg (640x360, 17K)

Engraving.
English and American scroll engraving is fun to do once you get past the steep learning curve.
Buy new firearm for 850. Engrave. Sell for 2200.
Done guns, knives, pocket watches, flasks. When I'm not at my day job, I smoke weed, drink white wine, smoke way too many cigarettes and engrave scrollwork. It's a decent hobby and you can make a bit of side money too.

how the FUCK is baking sourdough bread a hobby, isn't that just a staple part of your life

only if this was an actual hobby
>the dream

Attached: 191246196425.jpg (640x1138, 120K)

while traps aren't gay, they're fucking traps, and for that, i will be eternally upset

HEAR ME, Yea Forums

sourdough is fucking delicious that's how

that is not A HOBBY

though i will agree, it is very enjoyable is given the proper side

It can be a hobby

OP, get into fitness and nutrition. While not a hobby exactly it’ll benefit your life

Fitness is definitely a hobby

because it's kind of a pain in the ass to get right and I could more easily make yeasted bread or just by bread. It takes up a lot of my time and I enjoy it

anything can be a hobby, really
a hobby is anything that you spend a lot of time on for the enjoyment/distraction of the activity instead of doing it the fastest/easiest way to just get it done (or not do it at all)

I have everything to blacksmith besides the forge. My anvil is beat all to hell. Soft I think. Gonna have a hard face welded on and cut a horn on it. Can't find descent fuel and half ass pricing a natural gas one together. Just been to damned hot lately and hovering over a fire sounds like aids the next few months.

>that is not A HOBBY
When you can go to the grocery store and buy sourdough in 2 minutes, making it yourself becomes a hobby.

okay well it's not a, "conventional," hobby so to speak, is bread, we all make bread at one point

just brew beer and distill it lad

you can try to get a block of 4140 or 1045 and just use it as is. that's a really cheap option that's better than most cheap anvils. I had a harbor freight anvil that my in-laws bought me and it was softer than hot mild steel

yeah it is not very attractive in the heat but you'll feel exhausted in a good way afterwards if you force yourself to get out there and do it

>we all make bread at one point
That is sadly very very very far from the truth
very few people that I know have ever cooked from scratch at all, let alone bake bread, the only people I know personally that have done sourdough are the ones that I've gotten started by gifting starter to them

for the forge, until you figure out one you like, you can do a dakota fire hole or something similar. assuming you can at least get your hands on firewood and have a spot for it

I've tried that. I'm absolute aids at it. Hold my pen like a lefty but write right handed. Dad was a lefty and moms right handed and nobody caught it till 5th grade so I said fuckit and didnt do anything about it. Hand cramps to all fuck after 20 minutes. Thanks tho. One of my best friends draws and paints. Its amazing

Nice! Boat fishing is too damned much work. Could always grab a kayak or something

Try learning to play an instrument

Omfg gross. No. My wife wont swing anyway.

This actually sounds badass. Any referances of vids you recommend before I waste days on youtube and google watching retards?

there's gotta be some set standard of living

never making bread for christ sake?
literally just hold the pen however you like
you don't HAVE to abide by every art law that exists. just mess around with values doing hatching or cross hatching, it's stuff you can do when you're doing other stuff on paper. just small steps

I play drums for a few local bar bands. Two cover bands, and two that play original music.

Attached: 20180604_191645-500.jpg (500x500, 143K)

I make pottery
I paint landscaped
I restore old paintings
I fish for octopus
And squid
I make my own wine from a small vineyard i keep
I make olive oil from my olive trees
I build custom made motorcycles
I ride alot

the current standard of living seems to be buy everything and fill all free time with a screen in your face and/or a drink in your hand to ignore thoughts of your terrible job

Oh i like to cook and bake too

*Landscapes

how can we achieve a mass scale of self-actualization

thats neat, how do you make the wine? i wanna try that

clay shooting poorfags

Good call. I'm a fat fuck. Lost 40 pounds last year just by doing the 21 day beach body diet thing. I got a metal plate and screws bolting my useless fucking cankle together. So rather than exorcise I just meal prepped and ate half of what I was supposed to. Didnt really like most of it but it was tolerable and I wasnt starving. Felt pretty fucking amazing having to punch a new belt hole on the other side for once. Been busy moving and trying to rehab 2 houses. I got a dishwasher though so we dont spend 2 hours a day doing dishes for the damned diet. It's going in sometime next month and I'll go back on the diet and keep it off. I cant even work arms. I run equipment for a living and I've tried it. Sore arms suck and they get rubbery trying to do shit. Working out hard the way I like and I'd end up accidentally killing someone.

Fucking diet was legit tho. My childhood friend is a professional athelete and taught me how he does it. Dude eats a lot of wild caught swordfish. Never tried it but he went from over 400 pounds to basically a human brick.

do cool stuff in front of kids
loudly shame people on their phones in front of kids
adults that are lame aren't worth any effort

>Anyone know a leather worker? Is it cool?

I wouldnt say cool, but it is rewarding at times.

I mostly do reenactment stuff, and honestly, much prefer metalwork, but its good for quet evenings in, and the likes. Get yourself good tools, it makes it far easier - cheapy tools are a false economy, you just end up buying the good ones later.

and since you're on Yea Forums and therefore, very likely a trap-ogling panty-wearing pervert, there's good money to be made in leatherwork stuff for kink, as long as you're open-minded and don't mind making stuff for weird fetishes that aren't your personal cup of tea.

I study the blade. Ive been a disciple of edged weaponry for over 2 years now and i am now a lethal weapon. I no longer assosciate with my family, my blade is the only thing that matters to me.

I thinkni will user. I have a lot of ideas. My favorite is forging some of my wifes late grandfathers hammers into a 100 pound "demascus" sledge using the old handles glued and turned into a new handle. Polish it up and hang it in the living room.

Where the fuck do I even find traps? Like actually traps, not just hairy men in women's clothes who talk like fags.

I got about 4 acres. I want a natural gass setup so I can make it double as a foundry. Been planing it for a while. I'll finalize it this week and and start buying shit.

>Want to blow glass but
THE FIRST REPLY SHOULD BE WHY DONT YOU BLOW YOUR DAD

This is actual goddamn proof Yea Forums is just for fucking normies these days. you people should turn around 360 degrees and walk away from these boards.

Belle delphine

Tried the bass twice. I get to aggravated. I really enjoy rock though. To the point that I'm running heavy wire to the shop and building a custom Kicker system to blow the damned tin off. Lol

sorry your baby Yea Forums didn't turn out the way you wanted, daddy

I see. I'll try it user. Thanks

what's the difference

if only you knew how much fun Yea Forums was back in the days youngster!

I have Cabernet Franc and usually I'll make semi sweet wine.
It's not really hard, you just need a good storage area and air tight containers ,and good timing .
I mostly learned from the internet and now i want to try fermenting and distilling the grapes in order to get some high alcohol content

I build Mechanical Keyboards for a hobby. Also Boardgames and Saltwater Aquariums.

Attached: 61668562_2457082074354749_6957838768887824384_n.jpg (960x720, 87K)

been here since '05, I just don't have an emotional attachment to it

Maybe try a wind instrument like the sax or trumpet.

neither do i Satan, but at least it was hilarious back then

>Yea Forums was never good faggot.

That's a nice setup user. I spent 2 years in school in band. Cocksucking faggot fucking teacher made us all play the bells and his kid played drums. He said year 3 we could all learn it. He then said no anons you gotta play the faggot bells one more year. The only reason I stuck with it was because xylophone is badass and I wanted to become a rock god. When he said no I tried begging. He still said no. So I got sent to the office for kicking my bells over and punching through the bass drum in an autistic fit of rage calling him a fat retard faggot. Worth it. That was like 20 years ago and I still fucking hate that faggot. He's now a member of the kansas house of representatives.

KEK. He came back on the campaign trail a few years ago and did a big meet and greet at a resturaunt. I shook his hand and told him hes still and egregious fucking cocksucker. He seemed confused for a sec before he recognized me and cracked a smile. I lunged at him but already 4 people were ready to hold me back. I shoulda just jumped his ass after I shook his hand. Fat faggot

ohhh shit i thought you were already fermenting and distilling.

I kinda just assumed that to be a process of all brewing involving alcohol, standard brew being the exception from the distillation process

Damn user. Busy man. I've been interested in pottery. Kind of blends well as I need clay for casting molds and the kiln would do fine for glass blowing and tempering knives.

Any useful things I should try making?

it was too!

Yup. I know the cure but nobody will listen to me because I'm not rich yet.

Read rich dad poor dad. Read the books recommended within. Continue reading until you can buy your freedom from wageslavery.

The only hard part of investing is self control and learning that everything you think you know about money is a fucking lie

>saving is stupid
>paying off your home is stupid
>buying stocks isnt really "investing"

It's fucked. But. I went from a 300s credit score to 750ish. Got a nice rental house with a solid tennant and nearly bad debt free while building equity in my home. Theres not a lot of money to be had around here but percentage wise I'll soon own this town. Bigger pockets says generally if you can get 1%-2% of the price of the home in rent every month it's a very good investment. I'm getting 4% and can do even better while at the same time having all of the money I can get from the bank and buying others owner financed. 4% a month roi is 40% anually while at the same time every single house is paying it's own mortgage.

Real estate is the greatest possible investment anyone can have for a million reasons.

Man, I hate cooking. Lol

I make beer, grow my own hops and I'm a lawn care nerd.

>this
big fat redpill

>how do bakeries exist

sup turffag.
how them stripes?

staple part in your life as in if you know how to make breads of sorts, and you enjoy it, instead of considering it a hobby, cant it be considered a staple part of your life for you to just make bread

tell me about growing your own hopps, i'm interested

Wake up to the machine. Recognize the oligarchies run the world and the best you can do is play by their rules and on return for the good you do for them and others they'll allow you to have a couple more puppet strings cut than normal people. You can fight bit you can't win.

And believe me. I know I sound like a lunatic nutjob. Ibused to laugh at this. But when every single millionaire you know believes this then you learn it's all true.

You think you can own your own home and land? Fuck no. Property tax. Last I checked I didnt have to pay for my fucking snickers for the rest of my life after I already bought it, paid sales tax, and ate it.

And dont ree at me. Taxation is 100% theft. I know we need schools and roads and shit but I swear to you we could get along just fine in with a 3% tax of it wasnt for the greedy polititions and the money hungry mismanaged government.

We cant run a fucking thing. Medicare and Medicaid is in the red. Look at how fucked the VA is. We cant even care for the brave vets that keep us safe.

Hell, that's why if you get your shit together the government itself will loan you 115% of your mortgage with low interest or no interest because you provide clean and dry housing for degenerates that would by far cost the government more in the crime and bullshit they do commit whiteout cheap housing. The government tried and failed. Some of their attempts still exist and they are some of the most rat infested leaky shitholes on earth. You and I would be in prison for providing that kind of housing.

Shits fucked

Oh I do. I got an electric thrower. It's an expensive hobby and boring alone.

Drugs. Growing, cooking, extracting, selling. It's exciting, dangerous, and lucrative. Don't use them!

Not as defined as I'd like. I haven't had time lately to do any double cutting or anything. May get a striping kit soon. My main goal right now is just to get it as dark as possible.

There isn't much on YouTube honestly. I got a couple books from amazon, read them cover to cover, bought an engraver and a vise and started working. Books and videos can give you a taste, but putting graver to metal is where the learning is. Books are good references when it comes to sharpening gravers. People that actually know what they're doing have pretty much sorted out which graver geometry does which cut best.
Everything I did for the first 3 months was absolute trash. Hopefully you pick it up faster than I did.

Pretty easy to start, really. if there's a local homebrew shop near you they probably sell hop rhizomes when the time is right. I already had a garden so I just decided to plant a few. The first year not much happens but year two they grow pretty quickly and start producing cones. I'm in my second year so I have some big fat cones on one . plant and the other is not doing much. Next year they should produce more than I know what to do with.

stfu. baking can be a hobby.
i turned my hobby into daves killer bread so fuck off with your bullshit opinion

Jesus fuck Dave you did a lot of time, should of known you'd be a chan dick

Books / history
Military stuff
Airplanes / aviation
Shooting
/Out/ bushcraft and nature
Furry porn

I come here for the basic 1st amendment rights and lols. I'm married to a human female.

And pick related. Who the fuck am I to judge?

LOL. That meme is gold user

I have since 2003 faggot.

I know what you mean tho. We did it to ourselves tbh. You can only meme the media so many times before your in the world spotlight.

HE WILL NOT DIVIDE US SEASON 7 WHEM!

striping kits are bs unless you're using a push deck or something with thin tires.

i just bought the Toro mx5075 50" (myride suspension system) with a mulch kit and it leaves beautiful lines.
the line kit didn't do shit except pet the grass and undo the tire lines so i took it off.

for darker turf you want high nitrogen low phosphorus

If any of you faggots ever met me in real life you'd be dead immediately. I'm well versed in the ways of the blade, I train for 16 hours every day except Sundays when I meditate and watch anime where I learn all my combat techniques. I could dismember 7 of you in 2.7 seconds and yes that's a fact I've timed myself while training. I am in every way a modern samurai so fucking come at me.

I pretty much only mow my front with my timemaster, sometimes I use a tractor on the back but not often. I by no means need a kit but I like buying new toys.

yeah... lmfao i did a lot of time.
it's crazy how much shit this one little site can stir up. keep up the good work!

and lets see them aliens.

My wife used to make wine by fermenting juice. It tasted absolutely aweful but if you mix it half wine and half of the grape juice it ended up not being horrible. Unsure of the alchahol content but I drink a lot and I got a good buzz

>Cooking
>I look for old pop culture stuff at flea markets and garage sales

I've considered a saltwater aquarium. I dont have anywhere to put one right now though. And I'm so busy for work I know I'd be lazy and neglect it. Already imprisonment for fish. I dont want to also 3rd world shithole prison them.

Fucking trumpet always looked fun. I might

>I'm a lawn care nerd.

Help.

Lol

Reeee

I'd bet $100 you only want to blow glass so you can make pipes and bongs.

At least strangers on the internet get it.

My fucking buddy took out a 6 figure loan to "start a business." When I suggested he study this shit first along with a few books about how to run a business he laughed and said he knew what he was doing. 8 months later hes unemployed, about to file bankruptcy, and bought new cars so those are probably gone. And what does he do when I offer to try and help him? Says he wont bother. Blames taxes, uncle sam, regulations, customers, that fucking frog over there, anything but his fucking self.

I love the guy but hes not going to make it. Best I can do is hire him as a well paid handyman if he wants it I guess.

It's sad.

Ignorance is bliss. The matrix dude had it right. Neo shoulda took the blue pill. Now he lives in a hole in the ground like molepeople fighting robots.

Sometimes I wish I never started investing just because I know all of my friends and family will despise me and blame my fortune on a windfall or luck or being crooked.

They dont realize that my "luck" came from working 90 hours a week and still finding time to study personal finance and investing while paying off 6 figure medical debt.

One of my best friends used to be a coke dealer. I'll pass. Thanks tho

start with a mow. mow it as often as you can until fall. you could throw some fertilizer down now but I'd probably just mow and wait till fall and put down a good pre-emergent for weeds cause you must have a ton in there. Come spring, do a starter fertilizer and go from there. mow mow mow is the main key

Traps are super gay

>doubt.jpg

But a hobby that not only pays for itself but helps another hobby also? I think it's worth some effort. Suns out funs out pewpew

you can make a kit easy.
bolts and one of those wide floor squeegees.

if you want a new toy stump grinders are fun. my lazy ass uses one to dig sprinkler lines and remove concrete set fence posts.

this is solid advice

I'm done with gas faggotry. All electric zero turn brah

...I'm a professional UFC fighter who started with jujitsu and karate. Karate mostly trained in self defense. Come on over. You'll be sitting on that sword. Kek.

Shits hilarious nonetheless

Nope. I have a good job and unable to do any real bluecollar work like I used to. I can't partake in the devils lettuce for a few more years. But you bet your sweet ass I collect bongs and pipes and shit. The day I quit I'm going straight home and smoking out of every single one of them. Then whenever I get up and around I'll play my first round of golf. And its gonna start at like 1pm on a monday while everyone else has to work

I collect internet pictures of frogs.

Learning instruments is good. Been trying to learn guitar for the last 2 months or so.

It's all johnson grass. My mower is dicked so I'm just going to spray it and burn the shit. Its aggravating clearing land when the last cocksucker that lived he just stud in the back of a dumptruck full of metal and tossed it all out willy nilly all over the damned place. If I had a nickel for everytime I killed my mower by wraping up a bunch of bailing wire or fence I could buy a new deisle bad boy zero turn. Fml.

I do lock picking.

you can get starter kits on Amazon or Ebay for a few dollars that will give you a transparent lock, a set of cheap chinese picks and a guide to get you started.

if you like it you can upgrade your tools as you go, and you don't need to buy anything else; most people have a couple of padlocks that they've lost the keys to, or that they don't use anymore that you can practice on and so on.

i find it fun and relaxing; although some locks are a challenge. i don't do this for nefarious purposes, just for the challenge and knowledge really.

>gross
>wife wont
what a cuck

Same

It would be a handy skill.

I dont think you understand the definition of a cuck user

I commission art. mostly hentai though. pretty expensive hobby.

watching your wife getting plowed by tyrone and the chimpouts while holding her hand makes you a cuck

thats a good idea too if you don't mind the work. burn it, clean it up then start fresh with a grass type of your choosing.

my little swamp pond.
dog loves it.

i have 2 lakes and several more ponds ( yard is 755 acres ). I'll post more later if anyone interested in giving me an excuse to walk around takin pictures

Attached: 20190719_092159.jpg (2560x1536, 1.6M)

damn. how much area are you trying to keep really nice?

Initial investment is kinda steep. Decent engraver, decent vise, decent sharpening equipment, air compressor etc. It also takes time to actually do. Hour per dollar though, on a single piece, I make more than double what I make at my day job.

Vidya, games, cooking and gym.
I'd like to get into paramotoring, closest thing to a jetpack.

I actually do mind the work. A lot. Lol. 60+ hour weeks in the heat and then go pick up rocks and fight this shit. Should be worth it tho. Been wanting a shop for 33 years. Next spring I'll have one. Building a big deck off one side of it and digging my pond out more. Just gonna throw rebar down and shotcrete a pool in. It's gonna be sick af having a deck for a diving board and a really deep deep end.

Been toying with the idea of making a clam pond and circulate the pool u til it stays clear amd then autofeed the clams while they keep the pool crystal clear. Gonna have a 50 pound flathead for a pet. Named Tiny

Fuck yes I do. So jelly

That's pretty badass. I really think I'm going to try this. I got the compressor and vice. How much you think the rest would cost?

Build a heavy lift drone man.

i only mow like 3 acres.
most of it is natural meadow grass. my wife and i like natural shit but we're doing the proximity of the house primarily.

making a pad of incredibly nice turf close to the front porch after i do some more hardscaping. putting in a water fall and shit. so many lava rocks holy shit. it'll be a lot of work.

Lol. Post on /diy when you done

ok user. a roofer is suppose to show up in about an hour to give me a bid so It'll be a little later in the day.

makes me realize i should get a better camera... anyway.
I'll make a thread with some type of lawn reference/pun and if this thread is still alive I'll >> it

Sweet. Will keep an eye out. Put the word "lawn" in it for easy search would ya?

Plastic models, cooking, amateur rocketry

should i do
on diy instead of random?

absolutely.
I'm kinda stoked to do this.

it might be on diy. not sure exactly which board i should use.

You'll need a ball vice so you can rotate your work. Helps immensely with scrollwork.
Engravers are anywhere from 500 to 3000. Graver sharpening rig was about 300 or so, and is kinda optional if you can get creative with a drill press or bench grinder. Other misc supplies you'll probably have around the shop already.

Yeah, sure boss

Make up some bullshit question asking how you can diy control weeds so it dont get deleted

Damn. I was hoping my dremel would count. Lol. Thanks for the tips user. I'll get to saving and selling off some junk to buy gear

Get a Stihl FS 360c or if you have the cash a 460. Get the 3.3mm black Oregon nylon cord and a decent mulching blade and you will be much better off. My 9 to 5 is forestry and large scale site de vegetation. I've seen it all and if you would like pointers I'm happy to help.

Well I learned what a turf rake was yesterday. That and diligent spraying should handle the bulk of it. Thanks though. Unless you know of anything that only kills johnson grass and leaves the other shit alone. Watching a youtube channel on gun engraving. It really does look like fun. My buddy is a professional air brush artist. I can see some slick collaborations when I get the hang of things

For sure getting the 460 after I burn it off this go around. Tha ks for the tips

You should be able to find studios that let you take classes and learn to blow glass.

>shithead, nepotistic faggot is now writing my laws
/pol/ was never a containment board

research waffen ss and zodiac kiIIer, need a hobby where i can fucking meet ppI tho

try drama or theater classes.
you'd be a natural

Yeah. But I'm 2 hours from the nearest one. Odly enough my buddy 2 hours away bought a badass bong at a headshop and somehow he overheard that the guy who made it lives in my town. I'd like to track him down and talk to him about it. Gonna be funny as fuck if it's a cop or the mayor or something

long sleeves/pants. gloves. face mask and shower after you spray that shit.
don't let your kids or pets play in it till it gets watered out.

good luck with the residual shit in your soil and trying to get anything to grow in it any time soon

cancer is a real life changer

I’m a bartender so one of my hobbies is crafting cocktails at home.
I also scuba dive, play board games and collect anime shit

you can also do hand chisels for cheap if you want

Kys. /pol is for faggots and cocksuckers

Well fuck. Been thinking about cutting my other mowers fenders and welding taller wheels and tires to it so I can mow at about a 1 foot setting. Maybe i should just do that

No clear water here. Feels batman. I drink to much. Lol. Part of the reason I'm looking for a hobby. Tried to blame the booze on everything else and after about 8 beers last night I realized I'm just working and pissed off all of the time. If I'm not at work or working on the house I feel guilty. Decided fuck it I'm going to just fuckoff tonight. Walked around by the pond bored. Came back in the house and spent 2 hours digging for my always save leatherworking shit and went to bed. Kek

I think I'll practice with cheap stuff and upgrade if I like it. Even if I dont like it the outcome is really badass and would pay for a hobby that I do like so.

Only seeing your post now.
I'm somewhat mechanically inept but I'll look into it.
