How can I avoid paying import duty at a Canada post office?
I bought a retro computer from ebay. it came from the states to canada. My local post office wants me to pay $60.00 in bullshit duty fees for my purchase on top of what i already paid to the ebay seller/ebay. How can i avoid paying this bullshit fee and get my item?
I am, but that wouldn't give me the satisfaction of telling the CBSA to fuck themselves and skirting customs fees. Also, I've never done B&E before, so i'm not sure where to even start and not get caught.

Ok new plan. Go in with some long arms and shoot up the place. In the chaos, grab your computer and flee before the Mounties arrive on their horses.

tempting, but don't have firearms on hand.

Order some from the US, faggot

1. Don’t use Canada Post you fucking loser. It’s the worst way to mail anything in Canada.
2. Call Canada Post and tell the overweight Indian dyke on the other end you are calling to remove the customs charge and provide “proof” you already paid duties. In my younger days I would photoshop an invoice with duties on it. I’ve lied and forged my way out of so much shit with Canada Post and the niggers at the CBSA its not even funny.

True, but then i'd probably have to pay import duty and this whole cycle starts again.

Have it shipped under a Customs declaration as "gift/cadeau" or "sample".

I may actually do this. as fo canada post, my irem was shipped USPS, then when it gets to canada, canada post takes over. like they seem to do with all ebay/aliexpress orders coming in from abroad.

Will do next time. it's already shipped and waiting in the post office at the moment.

Use photoshop Photoshop the transaction on Paypal, even the money withdrawn in your bank. Pic related - I bought $2,000 worth of electronics and I got the seller to write the value of $20 on the package. They caught it and I sent them all my “proof” and they released it. Didn’t have to pay a cent more. The CBSA are a bunch of fucking retards
I'll keep this in mind and may use it for next time. package is already with the post office.'

You might refuse delivery on the grounds that the Customs fee is something you didn't agree to, but eBay will reverse the sale (chargeback) only if the buyer is in compliance with their rules and their rules most likely say that buyers are responsible for any and all Customs fees. You'd need to research those rules to be sure. It's not very likely you can avoid delivery. So now lets look at the governmental side of the problem. Canada Post isn't charging you duty. They're just collecting it as an agent of Her Majesty's Ye Olde Customes House or whatever they're calling themselves these days. That means Canada Post isn't making jesuitical distinctions between the most modern computers and an old Apple II: they're just charging you on the premise that you're trying to import something modern. Challenge them on the basis of this distinction. An antique meant for a museum should not be charged Customs duties. It probably won't be worth Canada Post's time to defend their rash and erroneous classification. It's not like they'd get to keep the $60 themselves, after all. Many years ago, this happened to the sculptor Konstantin Brancusi. He shipped one of his pieces called Bird in Flight from Europe to a museum in the US. Customs attempted to assess duties commensurate with "machined metal" even though artworks are exempt from all duty. Brancusi challenged, prevailed, and today serves as legal precedent at least in the US. The Crown is likely to follow the same reasoning, though, so it's worth a try.

if you order using general USP the kind that takes a week to get to you . you're less likely to have your item hit with tarrifs. Listing the product as something else but have it be in a category which would make sense for said item works sometime. ie I order CBD from sanfran . they list it as herbal incense or someshit I can't remember. You can also pick up the item if you are getting delivery from some bs carrier because they always charge for a broker to do your paperwork so you get double taxed. That's not always ideal though considering the price of gass.

Canada post left a slip on my door telling me to come to the post office to pay the fees. that's why i'm looking for a way to avoid paying. if they delivered to my home, or to a drop point where i'd meet, i'd take the package and run.
