Socialism is a worker's party. It says that wage labor for anticompetitive corporations is inherently unjust and capitalism relies on unpaid or underpaid labor to drive massive systemic wealth inequality, gradually wiping out the middle class of wage earners with disposable income.

By creating massive wealth inequality, capitalism thereby sows the seeds of its own destruction. Workers grow to resent their employers when they see people like Jeff Bezos becoming the richest person in the world by treating his lowest level employees like machines. The workers will continue to strike, and antitrust legislators in multiple countries will continue to reign in corporate greed. Will anything really change? America is too entrenched in its corporatocracy, with billions spent on lobbying each fiscal quarter, and the overturning of Citizens United, which allows corporations to donate huge amounts of money to political candidates, often in exchange for favors or even political appointments. Today's socialists seek to undo the systemic injustice that capitalism has caused. And here I am referring primarily to Sanders, Warren, and members of The Squad. All of the other democratic candidates are accepting massive donations from corporations, and so have every past president in modern history, regardless of party designation.

The real reason there has never been a successful socialist state is because there really never has been a true socialist state: it's typically just dictators or autocrats who rule under the guise of socialism.
