Without HC, I won't feel like I need to be choosy about how my character is built, and that I'll just end up with something bad in the end. It forces me to improve, I guess, and it continually gives me a barrier to push against, that barrier being my furthest point without dying.
I've only made it to maps once so far, and I only started buying items on the market this month, so I can't say I have an overwhelming knowledge set either.

The other thing I like about it, is that it functionally becomes a roguelite, and my next build is oftentimes dictated by what unique items or good rare gems I've gotten, or something like a five-link can be a good enough reason to go with something specific.
Though I almost always choose one of a few skills anyway...

true. one thing that has been annoying me though lately is the fact that it feels like you have to be actively trying to create better items rather than just having them drop which can get confusing because you cant really tell when you should try again at a certain point since most items are the same type of item that you already have

Ah, yeah, crafting is a bit of a pain, but also fun. Most of the time for weapons I'll just use an essence once a few levels have passed and I feel like I'm losing out on damage.
For armor slots, I'll usually rotate them if I feel like my life or res stats are starting to get behind. I'm starting to get to the point where I can feel it out and figure when the stat jump from an upgrade is worth the currency spent
