The so-called "Electoral College" is a ridiculously outdated vestige of 18th century political "horse trading" intended to preserve the power of slave-holding states (as was the "3/5" clause in the US constitution, which also increased slave state political power). The 13th amendment freeing the slaves made it irrelevant. The only reason it is still used is because it is the only way a republican can ever win a national election. It isn't even an anachronism, it is an embarrassing joke.

Trump won Florida despite broward county falsifying as many votes as possible. vote counting done by a bunch of black women, lone white counter was escorted out of building when she witnessed black women filling out ballots for hillary.
Trump also won NH, but NH also falsified vote tallies, just barely allowing hillary to win.

Winner take all county system helps prevent vote rigging on a mass scale which is what hillary's people tried to do. It makes it more difficult to flip counties rather than basically tossing votes into a huge pile.
Its even debatable that Trump could have won Nevada if not for Clark county vote rigging.
Until we can get vote counting out of the hands of biased people and out in the open where it can be monitored by numerous 3rd parties, we will see elections flipped, mainly in smaller ones such as Al Franken who won when fake ballots were dumped into his pile.
