2 and 3 are low budget cash grabs.
Prometheus was cool just to complete the story.

It's not a bad film at all, from a cinematic perspective, but the actual resurrection of the headline name was pretty shit as was the storyline overall, that's my (OP) opinion. Aliens is more of a classic 80's military action movie - not my personal preference but story wise and with Newt, I think it makes for a good film in the series

Don't know what's all the fuss about Alien3, it's a darn entertaining and elegant film. My guess is that dumb audiences found it too dark: it starts with horrible news and it only gets worse and worse...
Also, I don't even count the ridiculous AVs series, they're disposable products.

I like the edited Aliens version. I watched the uncut edition, with the red-neck colonizers and some spoilers about the queen: I found it terrible. Unlike Alien3, both versions are good and extraordinarily different.

Resurrection has this weird comic tone to it where none of the jokes actually land effectively. It's awkward and makes me feel bad for Sigourney and Winona because they tried their best but even they couldn't salvage it

For the same reason I liked the first alien I liked avp for action, not so much for plot or storyline. It wasn't until I got some context with aliens (2) that I realized the plots were really superb, that's why I really loved prometheus.
