Did you know you could save a lifetime supply of plastic, paper, and even metal by recycling every piece of trash you ever threw away? Incredible, a lifetime of metal, paper, and plastic, but how? First you need to of course be able to recycle the simpliest trash.
Your trash output should be your resource input. Seperate plastics and metals as best as you can, the reason is obviously for filtration purposes. Most paper is dissolvable and passed through a filter during the rinsing stages of recycling. However you can recycle them in one single step and be able to seperate them from themselves incase they are infact mixed as often they are.
Metal is sorted through an electromagnet and cannot be ground through a filter as easily, it simply is showered clean with high grade chemicals then tossed into a smelter and refined into raw sheets like in those factory videos. It's easier than mining unsorted minerals and hardened rocks to just salvage all the metal and smelt it together. The metal assumably melts at different core temperatures so its filtered by a heat index or resettled alloy that is laser cut like a giant half and half pizza.
Plastic of course is just melted into a slurry or fit into assorted chips, it too is washed free of paper and then heated to steam off any styrofoam or untreated impurities like silica etc. Then it is put into a giant "byproduct" duffle bag and shipped off to be used in chaff grenades or even reused fiberglass.
The paper that is salvaged in one year can effectively save not only entire swathes of forests by reproduce your entire years worth of packaged goods which can also be used as compost to promote crop restoration and at least serve as an egg carton or even construction paper. If you recycled just one week of every New York Times Newspaper it would spare over 100,000 trees.
