To have a 4k monitor on 24", i can tell 1440 is quite good to play. I would not recommend 27" to play instead you got a profound desk. Or maybe for rts or that sorts of things. For me it was difficult to see all the onscreen action when i tried to play fps on a 27", but i'm at like 55-60cm from my screen...
