Theres nothing secret about it, well aside from the whole being secret thing, but the british have been trying to dump northern ireland since before thatcher.

In fact, they were laying the groundwork to begin the process of setting about developing a roadmap (longwinded, but politics tends to be), to do just that, until a retarded irish politician blabbed about it on TV and the unionists kicked up so much stink, they brought the north to a halt, turned off Water, Electric, held mass rallys and burned whole streets of catholic homes, in protest, so it was put on the back burner.

Every PM since has had a look at bringing it back up, but the unionists always kick up stink at the first whiff. e.g. recently with the Brexit thing, unionists ignored their own constituents who voted to remain, by siding with the government in all votes, until they mentioned backstop.

The whole idea of which is to allow the North to exist outside of the UK, in terms of Trade block, some EU rules etc. Kind of kind Hong Kong, but nowhere near as extreme, but could have been incredibly beneficial for Norn Iron economy, but they shat all over that for fear of being closer to ireland in any way, than Britan
