My step daughter screams at her mother for shit out of her control. Her mother then calls me at work to tell me how upset she is.
What the fuck do I do? I work 11 hours a day making the only money. It stresses me out hearing this shit, when her mother calls me with "I just can't deal with it "
Gotta deal with it. You're the one at home. Telling me you can't deal with it just sounds defeatist.
The daughter gets along fine with me, so I don't know what the fuck to do. We're supposed to go to the beach tomorrow and the mere thought of it is giving me fucking anxiety.
Is this just fucking normal for teenage girls, and I need to tell her mother to not take it personally? Do I need to lay down the law for something I wasn't there for? Do I need to set her mother up with a psychologist so she has the capability to deal?
Do I just stop answering my fucking phone at work?

shit man, girls in good homes tend to hate their mothers during the teenage years, act out, etc. its a few year phase.

Not sure how the dynamics are but she not being your actual daughter you likely can't be as severe with her. Mom-daughter relationships are often like you the one describe. It was hell with my wife and mother and law until she committed suicide then it was even worse for a few years until only recently

I was a high school teacher for 30 years and I would see this dynamic between teen daughters and their mothers quite often. The girls would be friendly and polite with everyone else, but absolute bitches towards their moms. They will grow out of it, but not much can be done in the interim.

I just went through them. If lasted about 2 years, but mine wasn't as bad as most. Teen girls just have that phase when they hate their mothers, usually at the end of puberty.
As to OP, if the kid is way out of line, talk to her privately. Let her know how much shes fucking your shit up and ask her to tone down the worst of it, for your sake. That worked for me.
That sounds like pretty solid advice, just let her know that she can at least talk to you without the anger she feels for her mom. Let her know when she goes too far

Sex before marriage is wrong, it creates complicated situations such as single moms. Also makes it hard to tell who the father is. Divorce should be avoided at all costs and remarrying after a divorce is adultery. Of course the penalty for adultery is death but since you can't kill your ex-wife and still give Caesar his due, you should just cut all contact and pretend she died.
