In all seriousness, how does one NOT get high after work?
Like, what the fuck am I supposed to do with the rest of my day that's enjoyable and not expensive?
I'm on day 2 of no-weed after smoking daily for about 6 years to try and "be less degenerate" and I'm genuinely wondering how I'm supposed to keep this up without going crazy.
It's not even like I have anything I need to fucking do.

every one has a vice. the people who call marijuana degeneracy are usually addicted to caffeine, sugar, alcohol, etc. the only thing that makes marijuana a degeneracy is if you're a retarded tween stoner about it.

Yea I'm 28 and way past the age where I could pull of stoner culture, not that I did in my youth anyway.

I have friends. We just chill on weekends. But after work on weekdays is such a void.

I think you may be right. I'm going to try and do this for a month just to prove to myself I really can quit if push came to shove but I'm really not seeing any reason to subject myself to sobriety on week days.

As a stoner of 15 years (I'm 31 this year) then there are two things you have to do if you wish to kick weed for good.

>1. Find a hobby
Weed is not chemically addictive like other drugs (eg Heroin) but it is habit forming. If you want to kick the habit for good then you need to find something else engaging to help take your mind off the fact that you feel like you should be smoking a joint/hitting the bong.

>2. Stop exposing yourself to weed
As hard as it is going to be you need to stop hanging around with people who smoke weed (at least temporarily). If you are constantly around people who smoke weed then sooner or later you will end up giving into temptation. Hopefully your friends will be supportive of your decision to quit and do everything they can to support you but sooner or later you're going to have a bad day at work or some other bullshit that stresses you out and before you know it you will be hitting the joint/bong and you are back to square one.

>Things to look forward to
Difficulty sleeping.
Crazy and intense dreams/nightmares.
Irritability
Headaches

However most of these symptoms will subside within 2-3 weeks.

Also you are probably an American in which case you should consider yourself lucky. Here in the UK most weed smokers use weed and tobacco when rolling joints and that is an entirely different and much more difficult monkey to try and get off your back.

P.s: Youre probably going to put on weight as people often turn to food in order to satisfy their cravings for weed. So if you are not already I would recommend joining your local gym to help lose the extra pounds you'll be putting on and help to keep your mind occupied. This will also help with the problems sleeping as after doing a full days work and then a 1-2 hour work out you will be far too tired to do anything else.

OP sounds like you need some hobbies dude. Also you're still in the thick of withdrawals, you'll feel like shit for 3~5 days but you'll be fine after that.
Maybe try some new shit, like vidya, movies, or go /out/.
Try yoga, an art class, woodwork, hit the gym or try rockclimbing or something.

I was in exactly the same place as you 4 years ago man. Now I just smoke once every few weeks because usually I'm doing other shit.

Yeah this. I gained 30kg when I quit smoking weed because I turned to drinking beer after work instead.

If you’ve been smoking daily for like 6 years you will literally be in a form of minor withdrawal for at least like a week or two, so right now things will seem extra shitty. After that you’ll probably start taking more pleasure out of non-high activities and feeling better in general.

Have you had crazy dreams yet OP? Weed tends to mute / kill dreams for many and when you stop smoking they come back hard at first which I actually enjoy.

Yes, I've taken days off here and here in my 6 years and the dreams return with a vengeance. Very intense situations. I'm a gun guy and my most common dream is im about to be killed and my gun wont fire. wake up with lots of sweat.

I mean, one you have the degree, the career and the wife, its hard to not just kill time after work.

why not just keep getting high if you really have nothing better to do? sober life has nothing to offer
