But I also think the core tenants of our republic have made many, many positive impacts on our planet. However, I do think we are not moving forward, we are moving backwards.

This is not true. We pay for many vital services as a whole. Transportation infrastructure, justice, safety (police, fire, emergency management, incarceration), education, defense. All of these are only possible through government collections and allocations.
