any 1980s to mid 90s thrash metal band
exodus or overkill for example

>o shit, quads must be demanded

Dunno what kind of metal you're into or have experienced, and what exactly you consider "nu-metal", but Pantera is always a good one...

And there's always Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer, Sepultura (Cavalera days are best, and Soul Fly had some decent stuff), Coal Chamber, Manson's first album is okay-ish, there's a few early Korn songs that are good enough to jam to (ball tongue, Freak on a Leash, Adidas, a few others)...

Post-2000's you've got Disturbed, Powerman 5000 (meh), Mudvayne's first album, Godsmack if you don't care that the lyrics make no goddamned sense, Devil Driver if Coal Chamber yanked your crank (same front man), Damageplan (Pantera with a different front man), Sevendust (not that hardcore, tbqh), or maybe some of Rob Zombie's later stuff....

You can go a bit further back and hit Motorhead, Maiden, Judas Priest, others would recommend Dio and Dio's Sabbath, but I can't simply because Ozzy is was and forever will be Ozzy and Sabbath without Ozzy can't be Sabbath proper... Plus, "Holy Diver" is absolutely awful imho... It's poorly written and the music is more generic than a can of Mountain Lightning....

Holy Diver sucks...

>fite me irl.

>demanded
obeyed***

Also, fta: You might like getting into the weirder shit like Primus... But, that might lead you down a rabbit hole of Sublime straight into full-blown Grunge if you're not careful...

All these mainstream metal bands being mentioned. I'm going to spit out 2 hopefully unexpected gems I've found.

1, Alestorm. British pirate metal with a scottish lead singer, so it sounds like heavy metal pirates singing shanties about stealing, pillaging, and rum.

2. Sonic the hedgehog soundtracks. Games are gay or whatever, but sega brings in some real talented people to give that blue rat something to run to. Sonic and the black knight has some nifty power metal, like "With Me" and "Fight The Knight".
