I was a real fucking doomer, I was an alcoholic and a 2 packs a day smoker. I was depressed about some past trauma, and couldn't get over it. My older brother was the same, and killed himself when i was 26. The next week, i realised i needed a change, and that i wouldn't end up like him.

Here's what i did:

1. Go do some kind of sport. I'm not saying you have to turn into chad, but do something, it's proven to make you more appealing to women and increases testosterone. I joined my local amateur rugby club because i'm a eurofag and that's what we play, but i'm sure you could find an amateur club for you. They are generally quite accepting, even if you never played a day of sport in your life.

2. Quit heavy drinking or smoking because it just helps all round. Smoking I quit cold turkey, but i had to go to AA to avoid drinking myself to death, because the addiction was too strong (where i met my wife for the first time)

3. Shower Daily and shave. Got a haircut and washed and ironed my clothes for the first time in years.

4. Save up some money that you got from not drinking and smoking everyday, and go get yourself some nice, modern clothes, stuff that properly shows you off. If you're insecure about your size, like i was, try darker colours, they hide some insecurities and make your face seem thinner.

5. Take up a hobby. This was my last step. When i wasn't playing rugby or working, i needed something to do other than spend hours on Yea Forums, so i started practising and getting good at tekken 6, eventually i got really fucking good, because i was constantly practising.

6. If you did all the previous things, you'll already be happier. Little things make a big difference. If you're actually doing all these things and not missing any of them out, then you'll just have to do the last thing: be confident! Women want a confident man more than anything else.

That was back in 2008, and now i have a beautiful wife, and two kids. If i can do it, you can too, user. Godspeed.

Bump

Thanks user. Some people just need to hear it.

> spend hours on Yea Forums

It's well known being an anime fag makes you a doomer.

bumping

godspeed user, we're with you man

We're gonna make it

OR we could not do that and just kill ourselves

whats stopping you?

As someone who's been where you are before, don't do it. It's really not worth it. Think about how your family would feel and the pain you'd cause them.

If you're just being a shit troll then piss off, this is a happy encouragement thread, not a downer thread.

lack of willpower, nothing unusual

bumping for others to see

Bump to your hearts content guys, people need to see this.

Don't waste your life, you've only got one.

I was close, but Im trying to improve and Ive learned its not worth it user. Keep searching for the thing to keep you alive and trust me man, you will find it, even if it dont seem like it right now. I know it dont mean much coming from another struggling user, but even if there isnt anything left for you, and even if you already gave life a shot, just remember that theres something out there for everyone, and you just have to push through to find it. I believe in you man.

I'm still a semi-doomer. Been taking decent amount of steps to get along and I think you covered the basics. The key is effort and actually doing things. I find it too easy to sit at my computer and avoid whatever. Literally, get up and do something. Just go. Stop putting shit off and you'll be fine.

That's what points 1,3 and 5 are about. Keeping yourself tidy and keeing yourself busy.

thanks for the kind words anons, wish you the best with your demons as well

OP here, My demon's are gone now, i've got a family to be happy for. My main goal now is to provide for them so that they can have the future that i didn't,

fuck sports. i cant take working myself to death. my only relief is alcohol. your advice sucks

I felt the same way, but that one push can change your life. Sport doesn't always mean running round a rugby pitch. You can go play snooker/pool, play chess. Anything that you need another person/people to play against. It's not about the sport itself, for me it was about having some practise at social interaction.

Rugby players are known round here to be quite rowdy, so after every game, we'd all go to the pub together and get blotto. A while later i joined AA, so that stopped, but i still played the games.

The important thing wasn't the pub visits after, it was that i had 14 new people in my life, and 14 new people that were depending on me to play every sunday as part of the team.

Give it a go, you might even enjoy it.

gotchu brother

kik: friedt0fu if ya need anyone to just talk to

just adding on that routine can be super important

just getting up at 9am every day and working out a little bit every single day can turn how you feel about life around

humans have been active creatures for thousands / millions of years you can't just sit in front of your computer sadly

Nice thread , OP. Thanks for the good feels

Hey, it's OP. I completely agree. Playing rugby every sunday meant i had something to look forward to while working my shitty job.

yeah well i have no energy for sports. maybe i can play pool after work and meet someone but there is alcohol at the pool hall. all i need is 1 person in my life but most people suck so its hard

So you gave up your old addictions for new addictions? How long do u think this will last?
What was the trauma?

Do you want me to tell you what you need to do?
I will be deadly serious with you.

No, you definitely should have killed yourself.

My old addictions were literally rotting my body away. I'd say i'd much rather be addicted to playing sports and tekken than drinking and smoking.

It's lasted since 2008. My main focus is my wife and kids, they're my everything.

sure

Your drinking is your way of coping. It was mine too. You don't need to quit drinking. Going T-Total was the right choice for me, because i was very very dependant on it. You just need to limit yourself.

You should try only drinking every other day. Or only drinking from thursday to sunday.

You should practise. The biggest step for me, was being able to walk into a bar, have one pint of beer, and leave. And i did this as practise. I went into my local pub, ordered one pint of Guinness, and i enjoyed it. I savoured it. Then I said bye to the barstaff and left. That was one of the hardest things to do for me.

Lastly, you need to find something to divert your coping mechanism from drinking to something else. A hobby. My AA counsellors suggestion for me was rugby becuase it was the only sport i liked. For every person that said they didn't want to run about, he suggested pool/snooker, here's why (1/2)

drinking isn't my problem, my problem is depression. i only drink a few times a week when i can't take it anymore. i could quit all together tomorrow. i just need someone or something in my life to help but most people are shit and most things in life suck

1. Pool needs another person to play, there's social interaction between the players.

2. It's an easy way to find friends, "We should play again sometime! what's your number so we can stay in touch?"

3. With the money you can get from not drinking as much, you can buy better equipment. Buying a new cue means a lot to the people that started to play because of AA. That pool cue that you bought represent's not drinking, because you bought it with the money you saved. It represents the fact that you're doing something with your life, and that you can keep doing it.

You might be shit at first, but even the pro's were shit at some point. What matters are the points above. If you want my snapchat, you can have it, we can talk any time. I want to help you help yourself user.

Well then you just need to get off your arse. Go play pool.

Paint-itblack on snapchat.

Bye thread, i'm going now. Add me on snap if you need to talk. OP over and out.

I don't really know. Sometimes I think the only thing for me to be truely complete is a loving woman.

I have friends, a social life (more or less, but enough), I have multiple hobbies (cycling, organize concerts and everything plant/garden-related), no debt and proper education.

But it doesn't work out for me, I can't find a "void-filling"-relationship, I have trust-issues with women because I got fucked up over and over again.

When I fell in love with a girl my head turns 14 again and I start behaving like a retard monkey. It's not easy for me to keep calm when Im around "her". That pushes me back and back again into depressive thoughts all the way.

Good points user, but it doesn't work like this for anyone. Maybe Im just a huge faggot.

i wish it was that easy. ill just keep drinking and working until i meet someone like my best friend

Thanks for not answering my question
