It seems like Yea Forums’s reputation has changed over the years. Before I feel like it was more closely associated with the neet lifestyle, anime and all that degenerate shit.
Occasionally the raids and what not caught mainstream attention too.
But now it seems like Yea Forums is more associated with alt right, internet nazism and meme politics because of /pol/ and actual chan users becoming shooters irl.
Oldfags, how has Yea Forums changed since its inception? Only been here since 2015 so wouldnt really know.
idk came her last year. only reason why i came was because i heard a lot of cool stories about raids and people having fun, but i havent had an ounce of fun here. this place is really dull. was expecting tons of raids and people making irl events about memes or some shit. i guess i expected too much. this place is so fucking disappointing every day
Yea Forums has always had an interesting dichotomy, you, I a pig and a horse all share one thing the same on this website, anonymity. That feeling leads to a sense of security and the worst of you comes out. Yes there was a change, Yea Forums is unique because it’s living, as the real world changed so did Yea Forums

people will forever say Yea Forums was never good, and they are kinda right, but Yea Forums now is absolute garbage. the lowest its ever been. there are 3 main causes for this.
/pol/ was seriously made as a containment board, no joke. but it completely backfired, and slowly over time it became the most popular board and started dripping out into the whole chan and affecting the culture in a negative way. Completely doing the opposite of what it was intended to do, that is keep people that browse /pol/ out of the rest of the chan
the incel movement hurt as well, and its culture has become somewhat synonomous with Yea Forums. back in the day there was "wizards" but they werent as toxic, loud, and blatantly retarded as incels.
finally the normie influx. Yea Forums simply grew in popularity. big name youtubers started mentioning it, word of mouth, internet infamy, etc all started getting people in here that would of never been here or even been able to hear about the website in the older days. now Yea Forums is an edgier reddit, that thinks they are too cool for reddit.
really, this website was an anime image board. look how far removed we are from that in this day an age?

Tbh im probably one of those who came after hearing about Yea Forums from other sites like youtube etc. I might be looking through rose tinted glasses but it seems like very very early Yea Forums was a lot of fun (however gay that sounds). Just anime, shitposting, memes and trolling. If that /pol/ shit is true then holy shit - fucking birthed a whole subculture of truly the worst people on earth.
I kinda wish for some imaginary forum board where it is just shitposting, memes and the like - something akin to what I imagine old Yea Forums was like. Cuz now it seems so politicised and toxic. Or maybe it was always like that and im being dumb (which is probably the case).

Yea Forums today is the same shit mine, but the volume of shit being generated is so much larger that said gold nuggets are that much harder to find. Chanology and other events that encouraged IRL shitposting have brought influxes of normies and the fact that /pol/ has utterly failed as a containment board means that now things like Facebook memes are regularly posted and tolerated while those /pol/acks who do venture out onto other boards get triggered and shit up the place. Doesn't help that Yea Forums has become yet another porn dump board even though there's plenty of those already.

Can't speak for others but for myself it's a combination of habit and some of the smaller boards can be decent enough communities.
It used to be a lot more fun. We'd go into camwhore rooms and call them fat until they cried. We used to take down websites, until those leading the raids were jailed. We were anonymous, we NEVER posted pictures of ourselves. We enjoyed the secret phrases and words (Roody poo!), and of course, Moot was a fag. We'd scan coupons and talk about instructional life hacks. We were all about Rule #37.
We knew and spoke of the cancer, the alphas have moved on, and the betas remain, where everybody wants to be a cuck, asking total strangers how they'd fuck somebody (who the fuck cares? why don't you do it big man?) , talk about waifu, and non-stop secret, FB/IG threads... instead of trolling and copypasta.
To those youngsters, sorry you were born late and found this pile of shit, not the tiniest shred of what it once was.
the political stuff was really really minimal compared to what it is. but it has always been kinda toxic hahah. but the community was MUCH smaller, there was more of a sense of Yea Forumsrotherhood and friendliness.
