The dominion arc was the inevitable plot device they needed in the only star trek show that doesn't even every episode with people fucking off to some new problem.
That's where DS9 shines over all of the other series. They were stuck in one spot and have to deal with all of the interpersonal relationships and consequences. If you're actually too stupid to see that then you should stick to Sliders.
