Either way the Republicans are just desperate to keep power. The use of people's fears of minorities to roll back regulations is a weird way to say what's happening, but with that a lot of confidence that the government has its citizens interests at heart seems to be eroding. From both parties.

The entire principle is that people live within their means. The goal is not that everyone drives Benz and rocks bling. That’s unrealistic. The goal of the right is that everyone lives within their means, if you want Benz and gold, then you are free to upskill yourself till you can afford that stuff.
The goal is the idea that only minimal taxes will be needed, allowing ordinary people to effectively tax themselves for their future by saving a portion their wages, as much or as little as they like, to invest in their own pension/health fund.
In this way, everyone lives the kind of life they choose.
That’s literally how it’s been done since antiquity. Worked well enough to bring us from hunter-gatherers right up to manned flight. Why change a winning formula? Especially when the leftist ideals do nothing but funnel cash to billionaires.

The economy fluctuates on company reporting losses due to tax laws, mostly 7 years to report depreciation of capital(property) so for vehicles they don't report the losses until 7 years. All the business kind of do it together, the economy takes a dip, unemployment spikes up, and then hedge funds pay out the dividend and the rich get money even when it's hard.
