You can smash it open or have it cut. Its rock so you cant cut it with a soft metal saw. You need a saw blade that can cut rock/stone.
Obviously, smashing it will not leave a nice clean result. But thats up to you.

Not a geode... at least not a Keokuk geode. Surface is too smooth, my bet is it is a smooth rock. Compare it to another rock of similar size, if smooth rock is lighter, hammer time!

If you do it right and not go ape shit on it a hammer will work. I also use a vintage pipe cutter on smaller ones. Tile saw works about the best honestly.

Just start pecking on it with a hammer going around the rock. It will change pitch once it starts letting go or cracking. Start light and increase force if needed.
