im going to cancun in a couple of weeks and want to know wtf to do while im there? i dont want to spend my entire week long trip in the tourist areas, but dont want to get killed by cartel either... who can give me god info and advice on what to do and what not to do while im there? kinda want to drink the water just to say ive done it...

Are you going with friends, or with your family? Whatever you do, stay in tourist areas. Apparently the cartels have a deal with the police/government, and they do not attack tourists. So it's safer for you to stay in those areas, than get too far and mistaken for someone who you do not want to be mistaken for.
Go visit the pyramids and other ruins, that's what people usually do. Or just stay in the tourist areas and party with other people. In any case, do not drink the water, because I've heard some people got sick from it--and I'm talking about people who have traveled a lot and in dirty shit-holes all over the world.
