This is true for all parrots, but 10 times more so for Cockatoos. I recommend bird sitting your species of choice for a month then remembering they live 50+ years before deciding you want one.

I rescued a bird from my aunt Chester a very old cockatiel poor guy was abused all hes life from that cunt. I gave him a big caged, toys, fresh food,etc and tried all i could to have him come out and get used to it but he refuses and freaks out in a way I never seen a bird would. Hes getting up there in age so the best I can do is just make him comfortable because if I stress him I fear he will just die.

Living longer doesn't matter. Go live in forest now. Humans were designed to live there. Houses are disgusting.
If you consider that typical pet bird, like parrot is a pretty shitty flyer, and houses are somewhat close to forest type of thing in terms of spaces and such, they don't loose much.

Macaws live in Brazil, Venezuela and probably other countries.
Your fuckers smuggle them through boarders.
In US and Europe it is difficult to find wild-captured (at least illegally, since some species are II CITES, which allows wild capturing) birds though. But I bet some get through customs somehow, and it is primarily your countries fault for not protecting local endangered species.
