Realistically without any sort of gatekeeping elitism in my post, Slipknot grew out the nu-metal tag in their later users and they're some sort of mix between "groove with light death influences (light) and harder metalcore. Even with this, they still aren't going to be accepted into the niche metal communities and probably wont ever. They're still talented, though.
