Only if you want if promise to put effort and love into taking care of one. They basically have the mind of a 3 year old child and can live up to 100. They can get noisy sometimes.

How noisy can they get? I have watched couple vids on youtube, but it is difficult to judge.

They can screech. They can really screech if they're really upset. If you play or interact with them daily, it tones down the screeching. Mine doesn't screech that much, mostly doing it if they are upset or got their foot in the gate of the bird cage the wrong way. Cockatoos are playful and social birds, so you need to interact/play bird toys with them.

If you ever get a parrot the first day, it's recommended you let them in their cage for a couple of days, so they can get used to their current habitat. You shouldn't do much interaction with them those first few days besides greeting them and giving them food/water. After those few days, you should start to build up interaction with them, and develop a trust with your bird.

It depends on the bird, really. There are quiet cockatoos, and there are noisy cockatoos. They pretty much CAN scream if they're lonely if you don't interact with them. They don't scream all of the time just for that reason, as i said, it just depends on the bird.

Greys are quiet, but they can talk a lot, but thats not really an issue if you like hearing them repeat stuff.

It may take them a while to pick up words if you aren't directly speaking to them, but if you often say something like "hey nigger parrot" to them close to them, they can pretty much pick that up in a few days.

Budgies (also known as Parakeets) are great starter birds if anyone is wondering, they go for 20-40 in general pet stores, but i'd recommend going to an actual dedicated bird/parrot store that breeds their own.

I know, I read a bunch of books when I was a kid about them, but no matter what and trying my best there's no way to change their lifespan.

Not as much as an African grey, but can learn some words, mine mostly imitates sounds (doesn't learn more now tho). He can be a little treacherous fuck and bite you out of nowhere, but he's very social, playful and love needy. He's my mom's guardian, these tend to pick their favorite person out of the bunch and be very protective with them.

I have two Indian parakeet and they are lots of work already. It's really like having babies, you need to play with them, feed them and pretty much always be there. Cockatoo are bigger, smarter hence looking for more. And it's not for 10 years (a LOT already), imagine doing this for, 30, 40, 60 years!

Why don't you go for a smaller parrot like a lovebird? They can get as attached to you as any other animal, come to you, play with you etc. and they are definitely less effort. Please don't go for a big animal if you're not prepared, be respectful.
