whats the pedal on the bottom left?
amp incoming
Huh, can't find my photo of it, but here's the model anyway. Pedals aren't worth taking a picture, but I'll list them

Metal Zone for triggering musician friends
why do les pauls have to look so sexy yet play like shit at the same time
also, rickenbacker bass is best bass
the boss re-20?
thats it... looks like you got stickers or something on there, threw me off
how do you like it? I need a delay pedal, my brother has my EHX canyon
You probably just played the wrong one. I've owned two.
The first one, an LP Studio, played like absolute dogshit.
This one, a 2008 LP Classic 1960 model, plays like a champion. I've seriously never felt a better playing guitar, even my friend's custom shop LP.
I'm so happy with my tone
its my favorite pedal on my board
Found it.
problems with lps:
>edge around body is rough on arm/wrist
>no where to anchor your hand for palm muting
>no trem/vibrato system
>shorter scale
>too many knobs
>too fucking heavy
is that a quilted maple neck? custom shop?
Telecaster>Statocaster
Got this one as a Christmas gift for my dad. He loves it. Can't really blame him. Almost wish I bought two.
negative, tele's are for faggots that can only afford one guitar
I want to try a DRRI but I doubt it will be much better than my princetons as they both have 12" speakers
I'd wager it's the opposite
LOL
Where are such conclusions from?
Looks like but noup! it's just how I bought it a few years ago, MIM strat.
teles don't have the mojo of a strat... they are the toyota camry of guitars
that said you can't go wrong with a camry. But if you buy a cheap shitty strat, it will be a dog to play.
>edge rough on wrist
Never felt that, but I also play standing a lot.
>nowhere to anchor hand for palm muting
I use the bridge, not sure why you'd have a problem there.
>no trem/vibrato
Not entirely true. Some come with a bigsby. But if you need a trem to sound good or enjoy the guitar, that's your weakness, not the guitar's.
>shorter scale
That's just preference.
>too many knobs
Never bothered me, but I know some people like it simple. Still, not like Fender is any better. 5 way switch, and 3 knobs.
>too fucking heavy
This one is fair.
somewhere around here
>b-but jimmy p-page plays one!
telecasters will forever and always be a boring eyesore when compared to the majesty of a beautiful strat, get over it kiddo
Noob here, played a couple of years in the past w/ only tabs, picked it up 10 months ago and started w/ guitar aerobics and theory via youtube / websites - Any tips in particular?
I've just started soloing w/ minor / major pentatonic but I'm not entirely sure what are the next steps or when should I move to the next step
also, don't bash me cause of my lefty sin
The bride pickup is unparalleled in terms of shimmery psychedelic goodness. Syd Barrett also played an esquire.
took you long enough Mods
bridge*
get a tube amp and a guitar you love to play
don't buy cheap shit
practice practice practice
play with people better than you
then play some more
practice
Okay theres where we lose each other. I am simply not a bridge pup guy when it comes to single coil guitars... too thin. I like more of a creamy overdriven bluesy tone of the neck and neck/middle reverse polarity and play those almost exclusively. Tele's just don't have that throaty gushy hendrixy tone
Strat is just boring IMO
I'm torn right now. Thinking about getting a high-end tele, or a high-end PRS custom 24. I could pay off the Tele sooner, but the PRS is so goddamn beautiful.
Help me decide Yea Forums
I already got some gear (the ibanez above w/ dimarzios) and usually use just the pc w/ guitar rig or similar software - I will upgrade once I'm confident (so I assume in a year from now) but now I just need to know what should be the progression of things to learn. Technique wise I'm not too bad but I've just started improvising and/or thinking about the actual notes
Not looking forward to play with anyone for a while (I was in a band before too), also usually guitar players are quite cocky
>borrowing money
fucking wagie
shut the fuck up and just do what i said, those are the next steps do ya get it?
>borrowing money
Nah, the shop does a payment plan. And yes, I get paid for work. How do you earn money in your delusional RP?
Ah, yeah fair enough mate there's nothing like a creamy guitar tone.
my comment was another way to say your comment is 200% useless.... practice practice practice... I'm fucking practicing but what should I do next or how long should I keep practicing on pentatonic
>also usually guitar players are quite cocky
at least I was right :')
i trade eCoins ya dip
Based.
never gonna make it
yep I'll keep far from other players if they are all pieces of shit
>creamy
I've been playing for about 11 years now, and I still roll my eyes when people talk like this
>chewy
>fat
>velvety
These are not sounds.
Well, how do I get into that then? And is it a good living?
>I'm fucking practicing but what should I do next?
next? There is no next... you keep practicing until you're better than fucking steve vai. Are you better than steve vai? no? okay, continue practicing.
Says the guy whose biggest gig was playing to a crowd of three guys who were busy raping a girl in the back of a dingy biker bar.
let me guess, you play nu metal
CUT MY LIFE INTO PIECES
THIS IS MAH LAST RESOOOORT
fine strat you got there my friend. But I prefer pau ferro or rosewood fingerboard
Don't hate on nu metal. Yeah, the guitar is hardly inspiring, but the music itself is pretty good. Depending on which band/song.
If all you know is Limp Bizkit and Papa Roach, you need to listen to a few others.
no
maybe we're talking 2 different languages, did I ever asked IF should I practice?
or maybe I asked
WHAT the fuck should I practice after major/minor pentatonic?
also, I don't care about playing with people or for people (already did it in the past), I'm fine playing/recording on my own and already have a high paying job
nah, it's all garbage, Coal Chamber, Slipknot, American Head Charge, Taproot, Korn, all shit
Nobody can give you advice on what to practice. Just YouTube different scales, and listen to people riffing with it. When you hear things you like, learn those.
thanks for only useful response, finally, I thought there was some kind of progression other than just learning bits here and there
thanks, and I actually don't like maple. it's one of my several strats... I've got ebony, rosewood, maple, and satin maple
never tried poo ferro
>Slipknot and Korn
>shit
Kill yourself. Coal Chamber is kinda lame, but at least Dez redeemed himself with DevilDriver.
And if you say Disturbed is shit, really kill yourself. Like pls hurry, don't hesitate, the noose is calling for you.
wow disturbed? really?
what a faggot band... that bald guy is such a fucking knobhead
>poo ferro
ehehe.. I see what you did there
It feels pretty similar to rosewood
Nothing is set it stone with guitar. Everyone has their own progression path. Maybe look into getting lessons, if you want something a bit more structured. Talk to the instructor about what you want to play, and they can figure out a series of exercises for you to work your way up on.
guy from disturbed can barely sing
reeeeeeee
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
How can you use so many effects without getting only whistling noises? You all use something like a gate?
I see, I was thinking getting some lessons but I wanted to get to an acceptable level (for me) first, although I might just stick with pentatonic and eviscerate it (also while keeping doing guitar aerobics exercises)
Also I never said he could sing. He's got a shitload of effects, and layering on his voice.
But the guitarist kicks ass, IMO, and the overall songs are pretty good.
You know you don't have to use all the pedals you own at same time right?
>vocalist blows dick at vocals
>"songs are great!"
fuck off
Make me.
What would you like to do about it then, create a scientific dictionary of words to describe the sound qualities of amplified electric guitar music? How about tell me if this is creamy enough for you while you're at it. soundcloud.com
u lie
Ofc but let me explain:
Got that marshall amp and a Vox multieffect looper with pedal. If I connect both I get a lot of whistling sounds. I can block that through a gate, but only in my DAW. So what's when playing life, with let's say 3-4 effects? The whistling musst be strong without gate, or am I wrong? Or did I buy cheap stuff and it's normal whistling?
Teles can snarl in a way strats don't. Not talking those gay double humbucker teles either.
Some tips for a beginner? Im into punk rock and i tried to play "they saved hitlers cock" by angry samoans but yet my fingers slip away from the eletric guitar strings. Anyone can help me?
what?
Maybe compare it to other sounds? I don't mind terms like "barky" "fizzy" "growly"
Those all make more sense to me. Even visual imagery is acceptable. I just find the weird touch comparisons to be weird.
And I mean, it sounds good if that's what you're asking. Makes me wish I had a few black light posters and lava lamps.
Also some shrooms.
Continue for a few months and it eventually get better :)
they are boring. this discussion ends here. the ruling has been determined: teles are boring
I have both of these. The tele is great and has mojo. The PRS is a proper instrument but just lacks something that I can't put my finger on. For me I seem to keep picking up my tele, it just feels right. But that's definitely a personal thing. You gotta find out for yourself.
what what? you got a problem my frand? fyte me irl
finger slippage is a desirable technique for punk music
I feel like I'd be the same way. I've never played a nice Tele, just a cheap Squier. But the PRS I've tried felt just like a lightweight Les Paul to me. Which is nice, don't get me wrong, but I already have a nice LP.
I don't really care anyway, could there different words used? Sure. As long as the word gets the message across. I mainly used this convo as a way to shamelessly plug my music. I'm a drummer by trade first, guitarist second lol.
...
Oh, that's your music? THEN IT'S SHIT
SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIT
i have an orange amp
also got one of pic related recently
i love stacking chorus, flanger, and fuzz with that stuff
it makes me erect anons
>t. no camera forgive me

my humbucker guitar is a PRS custom 24 floyd rose
It feels comfy, however, I think it sounds bland and uninspiring... I keep going back to my strats when I want to jam. It sure is a beautiful (and expensive) piece of room decor though
Do you play it naked?
not a tele guy, but I love the look of that one. MIM or MIA? also is that rosewood or pau ferret?
My tele is a late 80's custom shop with a heap of genuine wear from gigs. I feel like I've worn it in over the years and it just is super comfortable. I'm never wortied to throw it around and it always sounds great. Built like a brick. I'm always worried I'm going to ding my prs because it looks so good. It tends to stay in it's case. But the prs has the best intonation of any guitar Ive ever played. Objectively it's the best guitar Ive ever played. But I still prefer my tele.
>expensive room decor
I'd be okay with that to be honest. They really are beautiful. Also, it's like a rolex. It's a status symbol to musicians. lol
sometimes i think of fuckin awesome riffs and whatnot while in the shower and i just can't take the time to put some fuckin boxers on before i turn my shit up to 11
I don't like it either but being a weeb is way worse
im not into the technical stuff, i just got it because i wanted a guitar that looks and sounds nice and doesn't have the fretboard so weird that fingered notes are too high
No need to make excuses. Naked, full erection, just how a guitar should be played.
Agreed
i didnt say that wasnt how i did it user
>best intonation
I didn't check that on the one I played, but the feel was so amazing. The neck fit my hand perfectly, the action was insanely low with no fret buzz, and my arm wrapped around the body perfectly. The only thing I wasn't sold on is the sound, which is kinda important. Maybe I'll swap out the pickups.
But I think I'll go Tele first. I can pay that off way quicker, and if I don't fall in love with it, I can still go for PRS.
But even without the shower! Sometimes you need to let your day-old man funk fill the room! IT IS THE ESSENCE
oh okay, so basically you just dived into a huge undertaking without even doing one iota of research and spent your money on an aesthetically pleasing block of painted wood. makes perfect sense.
just letting you know when you sell it back to the guitar/pawn shop, they are gonna give you like 40% of its market value (used price, not msrp)
Dude find a second hand tele. You'll save some money and some great used guitars are out there. Also consider some of the tele type guitars, Friedman for example. Here in Australia there are some older Cole Clarke tele style guitars that are awesome for the money if you can find them.
im a simple faget, user
if it sounds good to me it sounds good
lel
I'll answer the questions for him. MIA, and Rosewood.
>used
I might just do that actually. Save a few bucks, and it's broken in for me.
>t-type
I know some of them are amazing, but I'm a total brand snob. lol I'd rather have a Chender than another brand. I can't help it. I won't even play Squier or Epiphone. It can sound better than God's farts, but the wrong name on the headstock means I just won't love it.
Well buy something you love. I bought mine because it was a bit different. Its got 3 single coils like a strat and sounds totally unique. And it is nice that it's got fender on the headstock. It's even better that it's built by a Fender custom Shop master builder. I too am a brand snob it turns out.
Lol this thread is full of a bunch of weeb ass posers.
>two anime pictures
>reaction images
>one of them is me
kys pls
Can you elaborate on the whistling sound? Is it on all the time or only when you play? Also single coil or humbuckers? Usually it's not supposed to whistle or anything
Humbuckers (HSS mexico strat). It's whistling as soon as I turn up signal on my strat. When I play (I use lots of distortion and reverb) the whistling noise continues but you recognize it far less because of the guitar sound.
Name my band, Yea Forums
"the imagine the smell band"
"Don't yeet on me"
does your cable socket wobble sometimes? having this issue with my strat
Yup. The white strat is the 97 hendrix..i have a srv one as well and they both occasionally need to be tightened up
i'll never play a strat again after a carve top fender showmaster, it fits my body so well and tone is so versatile with the HSS
Still working on the board..i have a ton of fuzz faces, but that king tone is super good..
discord gg/MN9Zak
trust me. join it
> they are gonna give you like 40% of its market value
if you're not a retard that buys a pos ibanez or mex strat, i bought my 84 contemporary tele and start for $300 and $450 both are worth over $800 easily in a emergency sell(but i'd never because they are the best guitars ever made), my flame maple martin doubled in price and you can't even find my model for sale
painted an octopus on my tiny acoustic
^this
Lol
I've bought rocksmith to start learning how to play. So I bought a Steve Vai JEMJR to learn on. Good choice? It'll look good on the wall anyway.
all my ladies, looking sexy.
>Blues driver
My guy. Fucking dope pedal. I swear by mine
Built this pedal board since then
anybody want to see my little Martin?
>my name is Martin btw
You have been visited by the Laura of horrible cereal noises.
Y-YOU HAVE TO BUMP THE THREAD! It's c-coming, don't you u-understand?! It's coming! And if you haven't b-bumped the thread by the time it gets here, the thread is going to D-DIE!
huh
>Metal zone for triggering musician friends
same reason I have one, friendo
Awful lot of noobs in this thread
Sounds like you are not using a dedicated power supply or batteries to power the pedals. Using a simple wall adapter gives off horrible noise usually. You should get a 1SPOT or something. Try the pedals with 9V batteries only first to see if it's not a problem with the pedals, then invest in a nice power supply
I'm thinking of changing the pickups of a Squier Tele. The neck pickup is too muffled or bass heavy when I adjust it. Are the Tex Mex pickups good?
i've noticed this about prs too. used to work in a guitar shop so i've played tons of models from tons of companies, but prs always felt sort of uninspiring to me. it's like they lack a certain "personality" that other companies have, if that makes sense. fender gets those clean single coil tones perfected, gibson has that warm saturated tone that sounds great cranked up, jackson has that high output buzzsaw tone that screams through the mix, and so on but prs just seems...middle of the road i guess. they sound great but they don't have a real strong defining quality to their tone in my ears.
based banjo boy. been a metal musician for most of my life, picked up a 5 string banjo and my buddy picked up a mandolin and we found a local washboard player. we started playing bluegrass open mic nights with me also sitting on a cajon hooked up with a hydraulic pedal while we play and that shit is so much fun. those country bars know how to serve some good goddamn food too.
any pickup is better than the stock Tele neck pup
It rustles my jimmies that the bridge is so good and the neck is so bad.
People like ibanez for the way they play. There are people with ibanez’ that can play better than you
>There are people with ibanez’ that can play better than you
sure but they're a ton deaf guitar, every single one sounds exactly the same....which is is nothing, box tone only. a fender or even a Jackson will offer some individual flavor
I think for 80% of people with guitars it’s just about talking and showing off the guitar. For instance “post pic of your gear” thread. Not a “post sound clips of you playing” thread
Luckily we are on Yea Forums and sound clips are not supported so we don’t have to suffer through that
/thread
most dweebs with 9 pedals cant even play guitar and use tone to cover that up
What Squier tele do you have?
and there are only about 3 pickups made that fit in the Tele neck pickgaurd hole... irs smaller than a strat sized pup. So you’ll need a new pickgaurd too
clean your room you wankstain
and learn how lighting works in photography
OP still here, stratposting again
keep em comin boys
wow didn't even know this. Tele's suck. Glad I got a strat...
this ^ guy gets it
Nice rig. Simple. Elegant. British.
You make me wanna post my Marshall jubilee reissue
Thanks man, I got the Marshall and Gibson within the last year and I should have done it a long time ago. Had a Blackstar and Epi G400 before that and was never really happy with them. Post up the Jubilee!
Mic'd 1973 pro reverb sent to my own multi-fx processor, both wet and dry sent to FOH
You guys have to believe how much better shit like delay and reverb sound if you add it in after a mic as opposed to in your guitar's signal chain. The sound guy will get pissed at you but after the concert he'll compliment your toañ
I also want to post my vht fender 5e3 clone. If you guys are looking for a killer amp for next to nothing you can find these fuckers for 250 bucks. I got mine for $300 and it's a goddam handwired fender Tweed deluxe that sounds amazing
Based m13 user
>if the guitar doesn’t look good to my stupid brain then it MUST play like shit
You must fucking suck at playing

Then you practice til you’re better than Allan Holdsworth

You will long be dead before even reaching a fraction of his godliness
no pics of my guitar but heres what i have
forgot image im a dumbass
Got 9 more everywhere in the house
thank me later
Can't believe it worked
I don't understand the mentality behind this. I made my living playing music for 6 years and I only ever wanted to play one guitar. I always hated the fact that guitarists had to have a strat, tele, les paul, and acoustic (or some similarly sounding variant) in order to gig out. I just want one instrument that I know like the back of my have as opposed to having 25 guitars that all feel and sound differently
Telecasters are the working man's tool. Strats are to guitars as 25 piece drumsets are to drums. You don't need a fucking belly cut and a whammy bar and all that shit to sound good. strats are played by Jimi/beck/Vaughn wannabees that are too focused on playing flashy and too far away from understanding what the guitar actually is and how it functions in a band. I always wanted a tele-strat hybrid just because there are certain sounds on a strat you can't get with a tele since the tele has only two pickups, but the neck pickup and bridge pickup of a tele will always sound better than a strat.
Well it's just a passion. And I'm as much passioned about the "object" itself than the music. For the most part I use the Jackson RR5 which is the one I know perfectly. But depending on my mood I like to change to have a different sound or just because some day I feel like the Jackson is not the one I need. Pretty hard to explain in fact...
I try to like the tele but the Strat just makes me feel like playing it more for it's clean sounds.
dont mind if i do :)
ackchually I was referring to the way the strat sounds. Strat is really distinct... tele is like PRS: they sound sterile and bland. I know because pic related
and yes i'm not a great guitarist per se, as i mostly use them for production/songwriting/recording, however, ive been known to pluck a string or two and strum a few chords in my day.
