OP here, I've read all of the posts above. Thanks guys, that fucking shed some light on me. As much as I respect my friend as a human, I can't let myself fall along side into that pit hole of mental illness.
As much as I hate confronting a situation like that head on and possibly losing one my best friends... I simply can't go on lying to myself and to him. I hate to think that me being his one and only childhood friend and the statistics of suicide rates from these types might end up adding another to the board.
