So, I want to know the truth--
should I send this laptop or not?
It wants me to check my PayPal account, and I just did. There are no incoming/pending transactions
but they are also not on the potential Nigerian scammer-list.
It's the fact that there are several red-flags here, it's not paranoia, it's legit confusion.

If the paypal payment goes through, then it's fine. But if they "send" the payment multiple times and it never goes through, then they say something like:

Move on to the next buyer.

My guess is this is just a troll in itself and there's no situation at all.

Yesterday they had wanted me to go to the local USPS, and even when I spoke to the mail-clerk not even an hour ago, she even seemed kinda weary.

Alright, I forwarded the possible fraudulent email to their phishing-detector, I'll keep you guys updated.

If you get a physical check, chances are they'll over-pay. If you agreed on $500, they'll send $1000. Then they'll ask you to cash the check, and send the computer along with the other $500.

Then about a week later, the funds never come through. You're now on the hook for $1000, and they made a quick $500 and got a free laptop.

They didn't send a check.
Just PayPal.

Sounds fishy. Try sending a box of dirt or something. You can get a tracking number that way. Then if the payment goes through, send the real package, and update them with the new tracking number.

They'll get two boxes, and probably be a little confused by the first one, but at least you'll be safe.

You verified with paypal there are no pending transactions.
The wording of the email is trying to pretend they're official paypal something
The email isn't from paypal, it's gmail
They're telling you you need to ship first before you get any money
Your email provider flagged it as dangerous
