can windows not run OS X? I'm a life long mac guy but at this point they've become such shite that I'm pretty much settled on building a PC that will have windows and run OS X, no need to actually own a mac if you just want to use the operating system

I love tinkering with vehicles and computers. If you know how, it's a lot cheaper and fun (overall). So with that mindset, whenever I encounter an apple product I get really frustrated at the lack of compatibility. I had an iphone once and was sick of it by the end. I think to enjoy apple you have to really give yourself into it, into the company and what it wants you to be

I am a 49 year old law firm partner who makes the buying decisions. We have all Macs at our firm of 21 people. Those things will last longer than a car- 10 years or so. Windows machines have a much shorter lifespan.

Everyone at our firm is running an iMac. They set up and run easily.

Don't believe me. Believe IBM, which started buying Mac for its employees at their option several years ago. They ran the numbers and decided the Macs are cheaper over the lifespan of the product, as they last longer and require less maintenance.

I am a software engineer. I used Macs for work and windows for self projects. There is literally no difference. 99% of the work is confined to VS code.

I work at lowes and our system runs on Linux. Most of our systems are older than 10 years. PCs do not have a short lifespan when you use them correctly.

The XboxOne/PS4 came out in 2013 for $400. You can upgrade to PS4 Pro or XboxOneX for another $400 like 5 years later to last until 2021/2022 for next gen systems. You just saved on building a whole PC and later upgrading (easily $1500-$2000 in total) to play glitchy Steam games that are slow to patch up bugs.

I'm not saying that Apple is a bad company but comparing some of it products with their equivalent from other companies is kinda dumb. Back in the day Apple was actually a great company which innovated the industry. But nowadays it's literally telling your money for no reason. It's the only company who would make an expensive product which cannot be used with another one of their products. In the case of Macs, I consider that they would be great machines if the compatibility wasn't that bad and you wouldn't have to pay 4 times the cost of all the components inside it. Apple's trademark this days is using mediocre hardware from a few years ago, calling it innovation because the case look good, and slap a big price on it. I bet you that if they launched products with better and more modern hardware, and lower the price for it, a lot of people would be transferring to Apple. Even when they actually use high end hardware like multi core CPUs or moderns graphics cards, they only do it so they would get to say that it has top of the line specs, when in reality it's gonna thermal-throttle within 10 minutes at most of doing anything productive on them.
For the most part I thing that apple could change into a better company if they actually listened to complaints from their customers. But the problem is the customers who are used to being sold old hardware for a high price just with a modern looking chassis, and who adore Apple like it's a fucking religion.
