First things first, we need to keep bumping any non porn thread that is posted. No matter what it is. And not just "bump". Participate. This board used to be random. Like one time I made a thread for pictures of animals being interviewed by the news. I was in a thread once for hours where a guy's hermit crab died and he was sad about it. God-tier albums threads are always great. We need to make threads. We have already made an impact with the yellow, but if the yellow posters just start making real threads, it will spread. People who have only come to Yea Forums in the last couple years don't know how to Yea Forums. We must show them.

That thread about how Yea Forums went mainstream raised some good points, and it seems like all communities have trouble when they grow large. I really can't think of a way to make Yea Forums random without getting rid of half it's userbase, which likely won't happen.

Here’s the problem:

Ten years ago, Yea Forums literally had no rules and the threads filled and fell off so fast moderation was impossible. So adult content you couldn’t post on /s/ or /hc/ or /gif/ ended up here. Porn has always been a big part of Yea Forums.

But a this point the entire board is redundant. There are so many boards every thread technically belongs somewhere else.

Yea Forums also was mostly guys who were thirty something who were acting sixteen to be funny. Now it’s mostly sixteen year olds thinking they know how to act thirty something and it isn’t funny. Literally all the early big memes of the mid to late Aughts started on Yea Forums and now the whole world uses them and don’t know where they came from. When was the last time Yea Forums made a meme which even Reddit thought was good enough to steal let alone the entire world?

It can’t be fixed.

Ten-fifteen years ago threads on Yea Forums lasted at most ten minutes. If you think Yea Forums is about being in a good thread for hours, you also just got here.

Once upon a time, you could on Yea Forums. Having a lot of porn threads here is just a vestigial tail of a time when the people posting were more interesting and the board far less moderated.

But the whole point of being truly anonymous is you can’t really control peoples decisions. By definition Yea Forums has no board culture and trying to impose one by force will either fail or eventually destroy Yea Forums.
