I work for Pepsi, AMA
I work for Pepsi, AMA
That's a good deal
Me too. Are you a merchandiser? How does it feel being the bottom bitch boi for the reps and drivers and store managers?
>too. Are you a merchandiser? How does it feel being the bottom bitch boi for the reps and drivers and store managers?
Yes, I barely talk to them, except for when building displays
How the hell is the world addicted to sweet black water.?
You literally don’t.
same, truck guy here
I do
You literally don’t.
>do
no u
Why is Coke so much better than Pepsi?
Even talking shit about it, that’s actually not a bad gig for college kids and shit. There’s a lot of bullshit with that company but overall it’s not the worst place to work.
PepsiCo actually did the smart thing, they diversified. Coca Cola sells way more soda in most markets than Pepsi, but Pepsi acquired a lot of other less health destroying options (that also cost a lot more than soda) so Pepsi has a better chance in the future I think.
The one thing Coke rapes them on is all of the restaurant contracts. If Pepsi could somehow snag the McD’s contract, that stock price would skyrocket. They do a lot of business with the Yum! companies though.
i hope you die soon!
Do you steal some to take home?
But I do
That doesn’t prove anything
>PepsiCo actually did the smart thing, they diversified.
So did Coke. They own Monster, Dasani, and other non soda products
>They do a lot of business with the Yum! companies though.
Pepsi owns Yum!
>There’s a lot of bullshit with that company but overall it’s not the worst place to work.
You used to work for them? What kind of BS we talking about here?
Not OP, but if you work around the warehouse, it’s super easy to take shit home. OP is a merchandiser so he is at stores all day. But so much stuff gets returned to the warehouse like damaged cases with two broken bottles or stores do resets with new product and all of the stuff that got pulled off the shelf gets thrown out. So they will give it to employees who ask as long as they don’t abuse it.
why do you work for this SJW piece of shit company?
Says the dildo factory test unit
gonna be honest here, dildo factory test unit is more respectable than anything social justice.
Monster is still a distant 2nd to Red Bull. And every company bottles water, people mostly buy whatever is on sale that week. Dasani sells when it’s on sale, Aquafina sells more when it’s on sale. Soda sales declined a whole lot over the past couple decades and you would be surprised if you saw the average Coca Cola invoice compared to a Pepsi invoice.
I still work for them. It’s just typical corporate company BS. They’re always pushing some sort of metric that doesn’t mean anything in the real world but makes your job more difficult. Recently the FDA has been coming down hard on the perishable cold products like Naked Juice and that has been a huge headache the past year.
Ok.
Because I’m a pussy who is too lazy to find a new job and my 401k is vested and growing.
you got a 401k? god damn, didn't even know that was still a thing, good luck.
how long you been there?
im literally just one month in as a driver
>still work for them. It’s just typical corporate company BS. They’re always pushing some sort of metric that doesn’t mean anything in the real world but makes your job more difficult. I wanna be out of consumer goods after my degree
401k and a separate pension. Their 401k matching isn’t the greatest, but their benefits overall are a lot better than most places.
Like 5.5yrs. Good luck, that’s a bust ass job.
Well i suppose i can see why you may work there regardless of the people above you being cock smokers.
damn. i've heard of guys working here their entire lives & retiring with damn near a million after 401k & all.
driving isn't bad so far though, im relief & still making about 1k a week, in it for the benefits
>damn. i've heard of guys working here their entire lives & retiring with damn near a million after 401k & all.
Probably lying or worked there for 50+ years
>pension
what
I mean I don’t think it’s just consumer goods. It’s big company vs small company. Small companies are nice because your job doesn’t get fucked with by people sitting at desks across the country, but you often don’t get the same benefits and a slow year can fuck you up really bad. Maybe the best bet is a medium-large company that isn’t owned by shareholders. But I have never worked for the gov’t, I hear those can be some of the best jobs because you are always going to get paid way over market no matter what the economy is doing and then you will get out of there at 60 with a huge pension.
Are you corporate Pepsi or an independent bottler? Corporate Pepsi gives you benefits at Day 1 which is why a lot of new guys like it. You don’t have to wait 6 months to go to the doctor.
Their 401k is mediocre though. They don’t match that much so if you’re good with money, leave your 401k at 4% contribution and go make your money work elsewhere. Some new guy was just asking about that a week or to ago because he thought they were matching 100% but it’s only 50% (up to 4% or 6%?) so the max they will contribute is only 2%-3% of your check and if you quit or get fired before 3yrs, all of that matching is gone.
all worked there 18yo-65yo so i'd believe it. any advice for dealing with corporate shit?
yo is that deal like nationwide or something because we've got it where I work too
Checked
And yes, it’s smaller than the 401k, but there’s two savings plans I got. The 401k and some second PepsiCo pension that I don’t know much about. It’s on my Fidelity page but I’m too lazy to research more.
corporate Pepsi. What happens after 3 years then? I'm 21 with no real idea of what a 401k does/is, just ignored it for the time being. I didn't plan on being here forever, just i'm making decent money for my age + benefits
>It’s big company vs small company. Small companies are nice because your job doesn’t get fucked with by people sitting at desks across the country, but you often don’t get the same benefits and a slow year can fuck you up really bad.
This is 100% accurate.
>I mean I don’t think it’s just consumer goods. It’s big company vs small company.
I mean I want out of the industry.
Some of the drivers I work with who are in their 15, 20 years look so battered down from the 10-12 hr shifts
Yeah if you work anywhere with a 401k and even a smaller pension for that many years and you actually contribute to it and don’t touch it and save a little on your own, you should be ok retiring.
And the corporate stuff, just show up to work and be cool with your managers. Make sure you work the numbers because that is what they’re going to look at when you apply for better positions. Even the metrics that are sort of inconvenient, they will pull those out in interviews and interrogate you on them and you can lose out on the job if a less capable guy made is numbers look better. Work different jobs too. If you’re a driver or merch guy, go to sales for a year because they love promoting people who made good numbers in sales.
Also PepsiCo had some tuition assistance. If you think you can do it, go start taking some classes at the community college and try to get an associate’s degree in business at least.
>Also PepsiCo had some tuition assistance. If you think you can do it, go start taking some classes at the community college and try to get an associate’s degree in business at least.
They offered me this but you have to stay with the company for 5 years after graduating. That kinda would make my degree useless
Shit i work at Superior Grocers. Any hot Mexican ass at your location?
You’re not supposed to stay in that position for 20 years. It’s a bust ass job so people normally do it for a couple years of experience and either try for a supervisor role or go to another company as a driver so they won’t have to beat their body down. I see a lot of guys do 2-3 years at Pepsi and then go drive a fuel tanker from the port.
3yrs and the 401k is vested. Basically means any money they match is only good after 3yrs. If you leave the company before the 3yrs, you don’t get to keep any of that money they gave you, you only get the money you contributed.
Yeah but if you plan on staying with the company anyway, that business degree will give you a much better shot at promotions.
>It’s a bust ass job so people normally do it for a couple years of experience and either try for a supervisor role
Distribution only has so many supervisory roles, there are Merchandisers, sales reps, drivers, loaders, etc who stay at their jobs for decades
>Dealing with Merchandisers
No thanks, I'll be moving to insurance and becoming an actuary, or if I fail, underwriter
Sales reps, yes. But the drivers who manually unload the trucks, it’s very rare to see those guys stay in that job over 10yrs. They either leave the company for a job they think will be easier elsewhere, go to sales or bulk, or go to a supervisor position if they have the capacity to do it.
do u get free pepsi?
>But the drivers who manually unload the trucks, it’s very rare to see those guys stay in that job over 10yrs. They either leave the company for a job they think will be easier elsewhere, go to sales or bulk, or go to a supervisor position if they have the capacity to do it.
The drivers I worked with usually went from sales to driver because it pays more
I don’t blame you because at the end of the day almost all of the jobs are related to sales, and that is always going to be stressful because of shit that is beyond your control. I think an HR gig or like some corporate advertising position would be the only thing that could get you away from this.
Would be fun to work in the department that deals with sponsorships. Pepsi does so much with that. We are sending stuff to MLB and NFL players all the time. Always fun when a major MLB player in the area is putting on an event for his cancer foundation and we have to supply the drinks.
The only good part of working in consumer goods are the freebies and tickets to events the company sponsors. Got to see rockets games for free and have tons of t-shirts and toys because of this
Meh even that isn’t really worth it.
I’m trying to go for a different job there right now, I’m waiting for them to finally schedule the interviews but they’re dragging ass. I figure with the new position, it’s a good opportunity to get experience in a different field and I could take that to a different company if I get sick of the place.
