What do you think of ultra traditional people, that try to live according to the old ways? Are there any that you know, or have met? Which religion are they, which movement are they part of?

>What do you think of ultra traditional people, that try to live according to the old ways?
whatever, as long as they don't leech off social services to enable that.
>Are there any that you know, or have met?
no
I met many, many confucian monks in Korea. It makes me want to run a monastery or a sang-ha. They become part of the fabric of a culture.
How many Confucians are there still in Korea? I assume that you mean South Korea, because the North is still for official purposes, "non-religious," even though there are at least some Christians among them in an underground movement.
I live in southern Ohio, so we have our fair share of Mennonites, and Amish...I think its cool for what it is. I mean, I think its cool to stay connected to your ancestry in some ways. But in general I dont really mind either way..Ive always been a to each their own kinda person.
You don't know shit about Korea and should stop talking about it until you do.
I avoid them like the plague.
Stop talking idiot

Shaddap
i've never met one. i might have seen some.
i can't expect them to have really researched their faith. even being "ultra traditional" and dressing like OP's pic or muslim garb or bowing to mecca--actually saw that once when my elevator stopped on a floor at my university and right in front of us was a barefoot guy on a carpet doing his thing towards mecca in the "lobby" of one of the "neuroscience" floors of the building--but still... it takes a lot to really understand what they're doing and just dressing up and acting doesn't mean they know what they're doing. in fact, i bet they don't. i'm curious enough to actually UNDERSTAND it all and read it. i'm a philosophy major as part of a dual major and i'm willing to learn comparative and all world religions. it's just some more ancient philosophy. i don't know if they even have that much passion to understand what they're doing.
In general, my thought is that zealous practitioners of something are the people who tend to understand the belief system the most.

You must watch rick and morty.
hmm... i think it's about liking and wanting, more than knowing every aspect of it.
since this started with a very stylish character in OP's pic, that's all about culture. that culture isn't going to be in the torah; they didn't have hats like that. all the cultural styles are secondary.
if i'm going to apply philosophy to a religion as being a "thing", its basic tenets are the "primary qualities" and the cultural fetishes are the "secondary qualities". obviously these types are fans of the secondary qualities but are they really fully versed and have spent time thinking about the primary qualities?
i spent about 200 hours learning plato and aristotle last semester in "ancient philosophy". the mind of socrates is considered an earlier foundation. i realized that from what i know in passing without caring, plato and aristotle had it all figured out hundreds of years before "jesus the christ" and they weren't "jews"; they spoke of fucking zeus and shit. i'm willing to check out the "holy bible" and even the koran, and for laughs, the book of mormon.
no.
They are all fucking morons and most importantly they are all probably on the autism spectrum to some degree, which is why they act the way they do and why they can't just calm the fuck down and adapt and be normal. They have to be so deeply entrenched in tradition and ritual because they can't possibly handle themselves any other way, they would break down and sperg out.
We have a few Mennonites in Alabama. Went with my grandparents once to visit them and buy homemade jams and shot (shit was delicious). Really what I wonder is how much crime goes on in those communities that you'll never hear about. Like, how many of them are kiddy fuckers and all that
I respect them a lot, may not agree with them in much. But it’s gotta be crazy hard to live very traditional roots way in the modern USA. It’s pretty common and edgy to be made fun of if you’re younger and go to church, temple or whatever. I’ve met some yes, mainly Catholics who are still by the book to a T catholic. The most hardcore impressive ones in my opinion are Jewish people who still live like straight up Israelite Jews from thousands of years ago tradition wise. They get hardcore
