Self destruction is a very common trait...however self awareness is not. Change for the better... one step at a time. A good way to make choices is think of someone you look up too and try to think about what they would decide for you if they had to decide. It helps to see yourself and choices in third person and instead of being self destructive you can make choices based on what an idol would choose for you with your best interest in mind.

There is a fundamental issue with America's, and by extension, the Free World's, focus on individualism. Some, nay, most all people are not individual, and are not even worth discussing. Your reason for not trying to help him is kind of bad. Yes everyone is individual, achievement is not a function of natural destiny but effort and motivation, that has nothing to do with attracting attention to oneself though.
