I'm an atheist and think religion is good in desperate and wild situations. It's more simple to explain a giant floating guy in the sky that created everything than explain the whole big bang to a gang of wild and unreasonable humans. religion gives people hope, and if done wrong can feed paranoia, and cause countless deaths. But if done right can help a primitive persons mood and morals through hard ships.
