this is a little abstract, but under the "attack of the b-team" mod pack, you could use the Chisel mod to make Chiseled Nether Quartz, which had an amazing smooth and pale cream texture. it was beautiful if you loaded it into Carpentry Mod frames - particularly the diagonal frame.

this. if you've ever tried to wreck a guardian monument without a conduit, slime blocks are god-tier because you can break them with one hit, which means you can displace water with them. if you have enough you can force the elder guardians into corners and kill the fuckers with swords.

also useful for temp ladders and huts.
