Why do Americans put so much value in cars...

Why do Americans put so much value in cars? I don't know of any other country where you are literally seen as a loser if you don't have one.

Good question. It's been that way for me but it's not like I hate it. Driving around in my M2 feels nice

Because all those countries are poor and unimportant.

because your country could fit within ours multiple times. you cant get anywhere on foot

if you live in any western country, are over the age of 20 and dont own a car, you are undoubtedly a huge loser.

>poor and unimportant

kind of like america, since you retards dont realize your a joke to the outside and donald trump is the punch line

pretty much all of yourup can fit inside of Texas.

Because our country is big and our public transportation is shit.

Why does that matter unless you plan to drive cross country once a month? It's not like we Europeans travel from one country to another just for fun every weekend. We stick to our own city most of the time, and I assume Americans do as well.

And your unimportant socialist dictator is who again?

its ez, cars are status symbols in north america

eurofags mad

There are these things called suburbs.

A geographical phenomena called "urban sprawl" has caused important locations such as business areas, commercial areas, and housing areas to be spread out, and without a comprehensive public transportation network like most countries have, Americans must rely on cars to get to work and wherever else productive people go; so if you see that someone does not have a car, logic dictates that they also have no job or anywhere else to be, making them a loser.

Except America is massively rich and the most important country in the world. It is going to be so much fun watching Trump's landslide victory in 2020

We have suburbs as well, we just take the bus/tram/subway from there to the city centre

Check out one of my cars yuroplebs.

Thank you, finally a good answer.

And we don't.

>top gear
>British show
>op's pic is british
something wrong, anglo?

I swear human geography was one the hardest classes I took, but it gave me so much insight into why cities are the way they are.

Because we don't have public transportation outside a city wide one and that like only 20% of the country. You're shithole is the size of a county here euronigger.

This guy gets it

Kinda like your sexlife.

also european and japanese cars are much better

I don't see that. I'm in the most Republican place and his numbers are meh even in the 2016 election.

this
i hate how non-drivers are treated as second class citizens in the us

It's like a status symbol, it has no point really. I buy used and fix as much as I can on my own to keep from going broke. Boomerism taught us that going into massive debt is what everyone should be doing. I hate it. cnbc.com/2019/02/13/explosion-in-auto-debt-threatens-consumer-finances-advocacy-group-says.html

Because we did it better than you.

Much better than you.

I'm sorry I can't hear you over my engine and all of this freedom.

bumpstock boy is that you?

Because if you walk the streets chances are you'll be robbed or most likely worse than that. Welcome to the land of the free.

it's called freedom.
>learn it
>know it
>live it

bitter euro detected

public transportation in USA is 'for profit'. it sucks. it's mostly utilized by niggers. niggers steal shit. niggers commit acts of violence. niggers attack for no reason. it's well known that you don't use public transportation in USA unless you're poor or a nigger.

Hold over from both post-war periods. American industry and mechanization became a status symbol. Having a Duesenberg in the 30s. Having a Caddy in the 50s.
Then there's the subculture of hot rodding that's become mainstream.
After the introduction of the highway system, this was thoroughly imbedded in the national identity.
All of that is in addition to the vast amounts of space that North America has compared to other smaller, less agrarian countries. Having a working and dependable vehicle is sometimes a necessity of life.
If you're +2 hours from the nearest community, even a small one, you need a truck just to get groceries for the next 2 weeks.

Being an Americunt you'll not know what an autobahn is in Europe. It's a German motorway the straightest fastest and safest high speed motorways in the world. How your high speed train lines over there? Or right silly me forgot you haven't got a clue what one is do you.

This is beyond pretentious

Bitter Euro that can walk about everywhere without the risk of being shot. If I was black it would be most likely law enforcement who'd shoot me. Welcome to the land of the free.

Because we built up infrastructure that is meant for automobile use. It was part of our whole post-ww2 development plan.

At the time it seemed pretty awesome, but hindsight is 20/20 so now we realize that it is shit. Either way, we are left with the infrastructure and replacing it with public transit on the scale of Europe or Japan would cost a shitload of money and take decades.

So you're a loser if you don't have a car because you need a car to get anywhere reliably in the US. If you don't have one then you are seen as a child.

Ah ok. You can go fast in one country the size of one of our states. That's nice. =)

I wish we could implement an autobahn system here.
But then again, that would mean investing in teaching our citizens how to drive, and that's just too much money and effort.

>inb4 fuck you I know how to drive durr

Suck my dick faggots. Anyone who's ever even seen L.A. traffic knows those dumbshits can't figure out how a car actually works.

Houstonfag here. never been to L.A. Houston drivers are pretty fucken stupid. ever been to Houston? if so, what do you think of her drivers?

Because we invented cars in the first place and thus the entire country was built to incorporate them.

That's the thing with Americans. They're told from birth how superior there country is to everyone else's. This ends up in the citizens thinking that there's no point going abroad so the vast majority don't. So the American people talk down about countries that have much better infrastructure and public transport than themselves. I won't even mention the cars the rest of the world knows what I mean. Or trains, of houses that don't blow away when it gets windy. Or power outages when it gets windy. Or the many road bridges that are in a very dangerous condition.

Because of this

Attached: Big-Data-Bus.jpg (500x299, 50K)

Trains are garbage. That you would brag about them reveals only how sad and twisted you really are.

Germany invented cars, we invented mass production of them.

It's this combined with the geography of the US generally being uneven and mountainous, so it's just physically not a good place for an extensive rail network.
Culture is sometimes determined by geographic concerns.

Also this

Attached: overcrowded-public-bus-F9AAYW.jpg (1300x956, 385K)

You never been abroad gave you?

Henry Ford invented mass production with the assembly line.

I'd give a crap if your country or any other country did anything for us, but turns out we're the only country supplying the world with services for free, like GPS and protected shipping lanes. Others chip in, sure, but we do like 80-90% of the heavy lifting. Everyone not selling coffee beans, oil or plastic crap is irrelevant af.

Americans don't need to go to other countries to see wildly different landscapes, cultures or wildlife. America is SO GODDAMN HUGE that they can see all those things within their own borders, which is cheaper and easier than going abroad.
It's not arrogance, it's practicality.

You don't get to pick where a train or bus goes.
Therefore, it is unfree, and riding them regularly makes you part of a herd, rather than an individual.

You buy 99% of foreigners inventions then claim them as your own, does Europe not have GPS? Or Asia as well as China on its own or Russia. Speaking of Russia who do you think either supplies you of your rocket engines of delivers your satellites for you

good point, its also fucking /huge/ compared to most countries

That statement shows how closed minded and unaware of the world outside of your land. You don't know nothing about other countries . Yet you say you don't have to leave the US cos the US has everything the same as the countries you know nothing about.

Never been. Closest I've been is Oklahoma City for family, but that was nothing compared to L.A., at least from what I saw there.
It's almost like people close their eyes and just drive the road they're fuckin imagining.

Most old world cities we're drafted hundreds to thousands of years ago, with no concern or thought of everyone potentially owning their own horse and buggy. So the streets are narrow and meandering and thrown in with buildings wherever they fit.
America however had the advantage of being new and rich, meaning many cities hadn't exploded in population before cars were a thing.
You know why Detroit sucks? Because it great like 800% in 15 years thanks to the auto industry. There wasn't enough time to lay good infrastructure and plan public transportation. Big Auto wanted highways coming into the city anyway, not public trolleys.
Legend has it Chicago was burned down by city planners so they could build the grid it is today, not a woman milking her cow in a city at fucking midnight.

Long story short: America had youth, money and space to make car culture a thing.

You haven't got an history either as well as culture

cringe

Too bad you can't pay rent with history and culture

You might want to check out Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, etc.

>City

You do realize the US is like 95% outside city limits right

>Republiturds on suicide watch after his landslide failure

This. Niggers ruin everything. It's worth the $25 Uber instead of the $2.50 train.

Funny how all yuropoors know our president yet we will never know yours

Attached: 1529788825621.jpg (196x200, 10K)

The American dream is to be successful, and cars are a symbol of success. They're big, flashy, and expensive. Owning one is impressive to others because it means you must make a lot of money. Which is the American way.

Probably because our countries existed and were civilized thousands of years before yours, mostly empty by the time the Europeans put your infrastructure down.

From europe? Saved your asses or beat your asses
From Asia? Saved your asses or beat your asses
From Russia? Still salty about the space race huh
Australia? Keep talking, convict
South America? Still trying to cross the border uhhhh yeap

worldfags mad

You could say that about any reasonable sized nation: 95%+ of the land is rural

Spot on. Not to mention buses/metro are slow and dirty. Only poorfags, spics and niggers use public transport.

It's because they find so little value in themselves.

Attached: murikkkan 02.jpg (880x498, 93K)

The difference being 95% of your country is like 30km and 95% of the US is like 3,000,000 miles

i drive this one everyday

Attached: 15310737_1242725029103951_869165426_n.jpg (960x539, 101K)

of course ..fat and stupid

Attached: ewTe0fs.jpg (1200x1195, 201K)

Wouldn't be a problem if there weren't so many fags acting like they are socially or ecologically woke because they use alternate transportation ruining for the humble folks out there

What do you "put value in"?
Your cute, modern hairdo?
Your thoughtful, statement making tattoo's?
Your careful choice of attire so that everyone can see how cool you are?

because i am not walking 20 miles to the nearest store to get my groceries and then walking 20 miles back

Nothing new you all would do it to if you had the space, it's a status symbol like a
Brand name jacket or piece of jewelry

I just lease. Three years. New car. No big down payment. Nothing fancy. Last three were Accord and two Sonatas. Avg payment 225 a month. No buying tires brakes, dealing with mechanics. Just have good credit , money down and off you go. So long as you don’t drive more than 12 k a year which I don’t . These morons who are spending 400-700 a month on a car they can’t afford are insane

Americans never developed a modern public transportation network, so owning a car in most places in the US is as necessary as having a working phone line.
There is a cultural component too. The majority of Americans are actually quite poor, and do not own any significant wealth or property. The high availability of consumer credit in the United States allows relatively poor people to lease or finance luxury or high end sport cars.
There are some issues however..
This is becoming a problem as infrastructure continues to deteriorate and roads cannot accommodate capacity. In addition, as purchasing power of most Americans declines, and cars become more reliable the American auto industry is struggling, and in fact was rescued from total collapse a few years ago with tax payer money.
Currently, there is a big political push from the left of the political spectrum to catch up with the rest of the world and invest in a modern transportation grid.

Are you Ted kazinski?

Europe just recently has a barely working gps system, but for the most part the world relies on the US for many free services. Also I'm not sure what you mean by 99% considering the USA is the #1 innovator and is the country of choice to move to if you want to work toward a Nobel prize.
Also so what, for a while we paid Russia for a rocket and let them spend money on r&d to get our inventions up there. Not like it's something we haven't done before 1,000 times.

Again, you all are irrelevant. The USA doesn't need you, we use you or your resources. No one hopelessly relies on you.

Read the question and try again. This time try taking your head out of your ass.
>Mmm, possibly some trends point to something else
Thanks Sherlock

Sorry I upset you.

1. it's because you are ignorant of other countries
2. The land is vast and public transportation between and within cities is often inefficient.

Some of what you say has some merit, particularly regarding the reliance on debt to fuel a lifestyle which is beyond their means. This is, however, the preferred method of slavery that central banks push, both on a micro and macro scale. As for infrastructure, think of where we’d be without the trillions we spend on empire building wars that enrich our corporate masters while bleeding us. But as far as leftist politicians having any sense whatever, please examine the conditions within the majority of ( Leftist governed) major American cities. They are hellholes. All of their schemes have little to do with infrastructure and everything to do with the fact that those with means move away and take their wealth with them. “Infrastructure”, just like eco- political movements are nothing more than an attempt to funnel more money into the hands of criminal shitheads, themselves at the front of the line.

youtube.com/watch?v=Qaf6baEu0_w&t=346s

it's because our country has no infrastructure for rail, so there's a huge emphasis on cars which created our car culture

I'm not commenting on any specific political platform, but, I am pointing out that the spending of infrastructure as share of GDP has continued to decline for the past 30 years.
Not enough money is being spend to even maintain what was build 30 years ago. The money is just not there.

Yeah Europe just installed it recently, but now how a fully-working, more modern and reliable self-financed GPS system called Galileo.
Actually, the #1 innovator is Switzerland which is an astonishing feat if you compare the size and population of the two countries, even if this is adjusted for population.
The world does not doubt the US is very capable, as you have shown time and time again. You have greatly influenced the dynamics of the world we live in.
However, what the rest of the world doesn't appreciate is that you are on your high horse, pretending like you're any better than others. You are not.
The US does heavily rely on the EU to keep its economy going. The EU is keeping up with and, in the case of the bigger nations such as Germany, greatly exceeds the per-capita GDP of the US.

What I am saying is that yes, you can be proud of the achievements of your nation. Don't let it get to your head, though: you were built on the backs of Europe who had and still has astonishing achievements of its own.

This might be true if taking some batshit winding route through the arse-end of France, but you can travel around Europe pretty quickly.

It took me two days to drive from Oxford in the UK to Prague in the Czech Republic, including waiting at the Channel tunnel and an overnight stop near Luxembourg.

because america is spread out and its extremely hard to traval through most of it without a car

It's because the Auto industry lobbies stymied public infrastructure early on and it's never really taken off. These days only niggers and criminals/degenerates ride busses pretty much anywhere except where the infrastructure literally can't handle cars. This has created a cyclical problem that public transport is shit and no one wants to do anything because only poor people care.

Why dongermanns and Italians strive to make the most luxurious and expensive cars in the world then?

This.

houston drivers are the worst
i drive from tomball/magnolia to katy for work.
end my life plz
