Same reason you generally get darker furniture/ cars. Light colors show shadow and dirt more, making signs of aging more noticable

This is very true. Indoorsy people end up with much nicer skin when they're older. Plus, there's always the genetic freaks like Keanu. Now, ten years later, he still looks the exact same.
