You also need a bacherlors (4 years) and a masters (2 years) to graduate, and additional schooling for emergency care
That's a total of 8-9 years
You say your'e 25, You would have to be at least 27 to 28 years old to have even graduated if worked in medical care from 18-21, and did school from 21-28
And that doesn't even include residency which is required for emergency care

Yeah paramedic is probably the toughest grind in emergency medicine. The hours suck, your medic patch isn’t accredited so if you want to move up in medicine, you’ve got to retake everything. The pay is a complete joke (15/hr starting - I’m at 22/hr now but still), and you go into it thinking you’re gonna do some badass shit & end up being nothing more than a Medicaid taxi 90% of the time.

Then again, I hear NP has many more job opportunities and you can bail on a shitty job & either get hired somewhere else or start your own practice. PAs and NPs are equal in rank but not in function or anything. NPs wont deal with cool stuff in ED. we have one NP who takes level 4 and 5s, sometimes a level 3. mostly just works out of the urgent care center in the other building but is helpful to have when there's concerts nearby and when there's going to be retards who need stitches or something removed from their ass

pa = prescribing care and medical case management based on med knowledge from didactics and rotation
nursing = caring for the actual patient
np = medical health management drawing from experience of caring and holistic solutions (medical + lifestyle)
