Can someone explain the LOTR story to a brainlet? I don't really understand it. I get that some nigger wanted to rule middle earth and had a lot of power, but why did he put ALL of his power into the ring? And how do you explain the fact he was so powerful, but got his fingers cut off so easily? I dunno, I'm just not getting it at all. Help?

>a being with more power wants to rule the world
>wants more power
>makes rings for all the other people
>those rings are a trap
>make better magic ring to control the other magic rings
>other races go to war against said ring maker
>ring maker loses all his power when some chad cuts his finger off that had the ring on it
>chad keeps ring as a trophy instead or destroying it
>some fags uncle finds it
>fag now has to go with other fag to destory it

Terribly watered down but it will get the point accross hopefully

What?

But why not just have everyone kill each other after giving them the rings?

The whole story doesn't make sense, don't even bother

A couple of midgets take a ring on a really long hike, then they get rid of it.

Both are me, they get turned into slaves this way

It's not really everyone, it's just the leaders that get the rings. Then the one ring he has made for himself allows him to control the leaders.

But what was the point? If he was gonna kill them anyway why bother?

He wants to rule middle earth. Sauron is 1 of 3 of the top beings I think but he is not all powerful. So in his quest for more power he created all the rings to bribe the men, elves, dwarves, etc to help him. At first it was chill, but then the other 2 out of 3 all powerful beings which are elves I think told men to fight vs sauron. That's why Aragorn had that sword forged.

You know at the end all the elves go to some other place? That's where more of the gods are at.

Something like that. But basically, the top beings gave up on middle earth instead of fighting sauron. So he started the ring games.

>put all his power in the ring
So he could control the other rings with his influence.

>so powerful, but got fingers cut off
His power was more to do with mental influence and magical control. He could warp your thoughts, and convince you to do his bidding. He wasn't necessarily able to throw boulders.

Sauron's goal wasn't to kill them though, it was to rule over them. The ones who resist the control are the ones who are to be killed.

His point was to rule middle earth. By expanding his armies of trolls and uru kai to replace all the other races. The only goal of power is power. The rings were just the tool for him to do it. Since he is not all powerful he had to use tricks like rings.

OP here, what book can I read so that I fully understand this story better?

The silmarillion. Its the one that goes about the creators of middle earth and shit.

The Silmarillion
The Lord of the Rings
The Hobbit

The books the films were based on. If you're not looking to spend that much time reading, just hit the wiki.

Like others have said it was never about killing youndont rule over dead bodies

why middle earth only? why not the god place? and why didnt any gods stop him too?

Holy shit nerds go outside

>they get turned into slaves this way

You're right, but it still makes little sense. The 9 kings of men were turned into Nazghul slaves, I get that. The 3 Elven rings were somehow never corrupted, but their power was tied to the One Ring anyway (somehow; I was never clear on this). And then the Dwarves, what? I think it the book just says, "Eh, magic doesn't work as well on Dwarves, but the rings still made 7 of them rich."

kys

The dwarves have always valued riches the rings made them reclusive even more so than normal. The elves were able to put a hold on the corruption not completely stop it because the lady of light could still be influenced if she used its power

>OP here, what book can I read so that I fully understand this story better?

You know, for LOTR watching the movies is probably fine if you don't want to invest the time in reading the whole thing. There's also an old BBC audio version you can get that's pretty tits.

The Silmarillion is like the creation myth, the opera, the literal heavy metal album.

He's another one of their creations. He's not anywhere near as powerful as they are. And they don't intervene directly, or at least they're not supposed to. They create the world, and then let it play out according to prophecy.

The three rings of Elves were crafted by Celebrimbor only, and weren't touched by Sauron, so they were never corrupted. But they were still created by the same elves, who were taught to make rings by Sauron. They didn't know the method he taught them incorporated a binding magic into the rings.

Sauron while powerful isnt enough to challenge anything there. So you go where you can make a kingdom

same thread posted last night. this is bait and copypasta.

No it wasn't?

there are rings. Only one of them are actually good because it controls the other rings. If you dont have the one ring you fail and should just quite.

pretty much hearthstone, magic the gathering, or any RPG video game. You either have the best equipment or you fail.
