The serious answer is this: Democrats believe in more government. More regulation, more laws, etc. and they don't care if we have to butcher a few rights and freedoms here and there in order to get it. But in reality you have nothing to worry about, this country did nothing when it was a bunch of 6 year olds in Sandy Hook about 5-6 years ago, they didn't do anything when it was 100+ in Vegas 2 years ago, they're not gonna do anything over a little shootout on a beach. At the state level, it's a different story. I'm a Maryland resident, and each year the GA creates a ton of retarded legislation aimed at scaring gun owners and potential gun owners. Other states let citizens run wild as if we were even close to capable of not fucking that up...

What should happen is 100% background check and cooperation between agencies across state lines. Mandatory minimum sentences for those who break the rules... the feds should also directly address the manufacturing issue by regulating the sale of 80% firearms.

I see this issue just like I see the immigration issue; with freedom comes peril. Opening our country to foreign visitors and immigrants creates the possibility for bad things to happen. Too bad. Life is dangerous, and there are plenty of good, capable and well meaning people who'd like to come to our country. Let them be.
