I'm an atheist and i consider religion problematic. It's nice people have things to give them hope, but it's also sad that rule books and threats of eternal damnation are needed to ensure basic human decency for some, and even then on the grander scale is religiously motivated war.

I probably can't hold that against religion, more against the human condition, people are always looking for a reason to fight. Despite that i find religion is typically a big factor, it doesn't help that many religious texts preemptively demean and degrade their detractors via terms such as Blasphemy. It sets the stage for making intolerance acceptable in my opinion, and i see the irony in that. I have enough self awareness to know i'm not informed well enough to be an authority on the subject.
